AllyB Pleased with my time considering I had to make an emergency toilet stop right after I started and then had to make my way back through the crowds, which weren't as bad as I feared. Went through 10 miles in 71 minutes which beat my previous best 10 mile time by 1 min 30. Great atmosphere and and a new PB by about 18 minutes or so.

Cormorant Well, I got away with it. This was a new personal worst and the last 3 miles were really hard but I'd done so little training after pulling a hamstring in the summer that I was pleased to finish and to come in under 2 hours. By the evening my calf muscles felt like you could pluck a tune on them. It's a well-organized event and it was great to have a weekend in Newcastle and to see old friends too, so we'll be back.

DaveM1962 Started off well - planned to take it easy - stocked up with energy foods (two bananas and a couple of gels) - looked good at the halfway point, even on target for a PB at the ten mile point.....then got really bad cramp in my hamstrings! Really struggled after that point - especially down the hill to the seafront. I reckon I didnt drink enough hence the cramps!. It was a lot warmer than expected as well. I thought it was supposed to be cool!

Sorry about those who have lost credits!

kerb job chuffed to bits. I entered the race with the predicted time of 1hr 30mins, but this i found was a mistake as everyone else seemed to have given a predicted time way ahead of their abilility. for the whole race i was overtaking slower runners. so to finish within 1hr 30mins was extra special. I kept up a sprint for the whole of the last mile, i'm getting better with my sprinting.

kstuart Not sure if i can beat my PB as there are a lot of runners on this run. Will also be up bliddy early to drive over from Carlisle so perhaps not ideal prepartion. Although there will be loads of time to digest a jumbo portion of porridge before i leave ;) If you want to bet feel free but i would say it could be fairly risky. I will off course bet on myself for motivational reasons. Target pace would be 9:30 min miles. Depending on pacing groups and my abiity to get close to them at the start i think i'll have a crack at sub 2 hours for this. If its 9 min miling pacing i'll hang on as long as possible, if its a 2 hour pace group i'd expect them to be ahead of me at the start so i'll aim to catch up with them and if capable pull away in the last mile or so. race UPDATE: Far to many people in the way to get going at the pace i needed but a time of 2:09 was only a little over 3 mins slower than my PB and i would say this race would add at least 5 mins if not 10 to a PB time due to the number of runners

Lis81 Considering my first Great North Run and haven't done much, if any training over the last few weeks due to injury, im pleased with my time.
The route was nowhere near as hilly as I was led to believe, didn't even know I was running up any hills at one point!!
Also usually struggle afterwards with awful nausea but after I'd finished went to the Macmillan tent who were giving out Greggs pasties and such, indulged in a sausage roll and mars bar and hey presto - felt tip top for the rest of the day! Can't wait for next years!

Been allocated a number in Zone A, as a result of my having completed every previous GNR to date, so I'm behind the Emmerdale cast and the other Z-list celebrities.

Managed to beat my time from the Bristol Half 3 weeks ago, though still found it heavy going in places.

Miss Sweden I got a PB last year, and am hoping to shave more time off this year. However, it's only January, so a lot can happen in 8 months.....
3 weeks to go and I'm changing my prediction. This will only be 3 weeks before my marathon. I don't think I'm going to try too hard with this, just take it as a training run...maybe.

On race day I was actually aiming for under 2 hours, and I only just made it! Really enjoyed the run. It was a bit warm, though. Well chuffed with my time.

Kept to my pace all the way round was on for a sub 1.50 but must have got carried away with the atmosphere at the last mile and lost a minute somewhere. I took 9 minutes off my pb so well chuffed. Swimming Is Easier Amazing day!! Really well organised - only took me 11 mins to get through the start and the highlight was the red arrows flyng over literally as I got onto the Tyne Bridge. perfect!! I sailed through the half way stage and was on for 2 hours (much too fast for me!!) At 10 miles I was 1.37... which is a PB (yes, I was going too fast!) and then struggled to get home in the last 3 miles -- in fact the last mile must have been slow motion running I was so exhausted!
I am sooo stiff today though, can't actually drive my car!!!
Managed to get on the TV highlights show too - right at the end I walk past Jonathan Edwards interviewing a big bird, looking a bit dazed and confused!!
Will definitely keep up the running after this!!

toepointer After picking up what may or may not have been a fictitious niggle near my achilles at training, dns at 2 10ks I had entered and pfaffed around and thought not to do this one as was worried 13.1m on the roads would kill of my achilles totally. But decided to be brave and do it, and it was fine. In fact it felt better (properly warmed up) after the race than before. But so unfit! Not so much the achilles holding me back as the fact that I had not had a single run at other than a very slow jog, excluding speedwork sessions, since March! So felt this was the hardest, albeit the slowest, HM I had ever done, the last 3 miles, I just wanted to expire! So unfit. I HATE running this slowly, but am pleased at the benefit the long run will have given me.

true blue Had a great start and PB for 10 mile marker of 1hr 19mins, but that last 'mountain' hurt. Long way to go from Norwich but the Red Arrows at the end were great as was the weather.

Tutu Much Wow, what a race!! Did so much better than I thought I would, knocking a nice amount off my pb, yay! It did feel like almost the whole course was on a gradual incline though, and shame the Tyne Bridge is so early on. Can't we run it the other way round?!

Yano I'm running this for Alzheimer Scotland - http://www.justgiving.com/iainjwallace - would love to get a PB.....
Well no PB this time but I really enjoyed my first time at the GNR. The scale of it just blew me away as I walked to the start - miles and miles of runners waiting to set off! Had a bit of a cold and was feeling sick with nerves beforehand. But the reason for the time is partly because of the congested start. First 3 miles were about 8 min/miles, there was just no way through, packed in like sardines until well beyond the Tyne Bridge! Then I just relaxed and decided to enjoy the day. Didn't push too hard, high fived the kids, soaked up the sun and atmosphere. It was liberating in the end just to relax and not chase a PB. Wonderful crowds all the way, better even than the London Marathon! Quite an undulating course, more than I expected and a hot day. Over 500 quid raised for charity is the main thing today..... Postscript: 1469 out of 35833 - top 5% :)

Yorkshire Mince Pie This will NOT be a PB. I'm running with a team of people, and we'll be going at the speed of the slowest runner. That won't be me.
