Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

About Me
I started running in July 2007 to get fit and lose weight after deciding to join a couple of work colleagues and run the local 10k (West Pinchbeck 10K 30/09/07). Joined a local club (Sleaford Town Runners) soon afterward which has been a great help.
2008 my first full year was overall good with 6HM (should have been 7 but dnf on one due to injury). 2009 my first attempt at a marathon FLM :), didn't go to plan but did it :). 2009 finished with 19 races, pb's at all distances except 10miles. 1st half of 2009 was better than second half, finishing with injuries.
2010 was plagued with injuries, but finished with a good HM
2011 I have a plan focusing on HMs, but mainly to stay injury free - did 5 HMs and apart from flu and couple of weeks with dodgy knee was all positive
2012 VLM - my second marathon - nervously scared. Plagued with ITB issue during training and the race leading to straining my foot and taking 1hr 37 mins for last 7km, but I finished and a big THANKS to fetchpoint. Finished year with only 5 races but some serious distances Marathon, 20 mile, 2 HMs and 10km off road. Finished year with an injury... typical
2013 4 HMs including 3 new races, plus quickest times for HM and 10km since 2009
2014 goals - to survive VLM (done 5:50), to do more parkruns (target 12 - 1 per month) - didn't achieve parkrun targets
2015 goals - Target 6 HMs plus some other challenges. PB at 15 miles, first PB since 2009 and picked up a 5km PB... amazed!! :) Also achieved 7 HMs :) :)
2016 goals - My 4th Marathon (Boston UK), so hoping for a PB ( medal achieved a 17 min PB). Other targets will be targeting 6 HMs again and maybe a sub 2 hour attempt (Mablethorpe or St Neots). 7 HMs done and not just a sub 2, but a PB at St Neots 1:58:07
2017 goals - Become an international Aflete (Barcelona HM - done). 20 mile PB attempt (big fail) and usual various HMs. Struggled with second half of year with injuries
2018 goals - after a stop start season, with CBA and other issues decided on Project Reset - Why did I start running in the first place? to get fit!
2019 is all about Golden Gate Half Marathon - not going for time, going for an experience! (unfortunately did not happen due to partner accident)
2020/21 - We all know what happened, so races but more recovering from 8 months due to back issue and still causing issue
2022 - enjoy just running regular and getting back to fitness. Fitting around my career change
