Hi ,

But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Konaboy Recovering from injury so no real gameplan. Started at back of red zone, eyed up 1:40 pacer from afar & tried to catch up in 1st 3 miles. No joy though. Went through 5K over 25mins so knew that sub 1:40 was not an option. Got to 10K in over 47mins so just dug in for the remainder. Had enough at 10miles & really resented the dog leg just before the stadium. Pleased to see finish & another mediocre Reading Half clocked up. Must sort out this aimless attitude for next outing or may lay off for the summer & come back fresh for autumn races.

manicstreetpounder Hoping for a PB in this one. Will see nearer the time though. Deliberately went slower for first three miles and then give it some welly from there. The plan nearly came off, but just not quite in PB shape and a little bit of pace. Mis-calculated slightly where I was time-wise at Mile 11, not realising I was a lot closer to a sub-1.20 than I thought and so eased off for a couple miles. Still very happy with the run though, best race I've run since Reading last year!

boyband6666 I was aiming for sub 1-30, but went out too fast following a friend, and it was downhill from there.

I felt awful for the last 8 miles, and had to keep on stopping to stretch my calves (which had been giving me problems aroudn that time).

While the course was good, and it was a PB my 6 minutes, there was no joy for me that day - I felt physically awful (I now know how not to prepare for a race)

Last 2 miles dropped to an 8min/mile pace which lost anything up to 2min - so a sub 1:30 on a good day looks viable.

JamieKai *chameleon* This will be my first Half Marathon, following a training programme with help from staff at SheRunsHeRuns/Sweatshop, Manchester Arndale. Can't wait, hoping for a good, fast first time :)

Ran first 10k way too fast and crashed - a shame as it meant I didn't enjoy the race as much as I thought I would, and spent 6 miles getting overtaken by lots of people - demoralising :( Still, was essentially still in recovery from man-flu, so I can do better next time...

spider2470 Had awful training .. or lack of it up to the race. Last 3 miles was a real battle to keep going and pace dropped however despite that time was not as bad as I thought it would be. Organisation was ok although too many people trying to get onto road and far too many people putting themselves unrealistically up near the start which caused too much congestion. Drink stations good as was support from the fab reading people !! would do it again.

Enaoslm Lovely sunny morning.
Decided to go with the 1:35 pacer. After a slowish start, I stepped up the pace at 3 miles and caught the pacer at about 7 miles. Hit some hills and the pacer caught up with me at 9 miles, ran with him until 10 miles then accelerated for final 3 miles. Felt really strong at the end.

Miss Minx Lovely big shiny new PB (by 6 minutes). Would have loved to have gone under 2, but it wasn't to be. Gave everything I had and had a blast - who could ask for more?

JonCPRC I ran this in 1hr 50mins last year in much cooler conditions and still managed to get a new half marathon PB out there today. A really good course with excellent crowd support and drinks stations. I still say the stadium finish makes it one of the best half marathons in the south of England. I rate it nearly as good as the Great North Run!

blue (pete) Never got under 2 hour at this one as I've always run in a group. Best chance of it would have been last year given the weather and everything but I didn't run it in the end...which I regretted. Enjoyed supporting it though.

Overdressed (ie too warm), started too fast (as usual) and blew up at mile 6, then adopted a run walk strategy to finsih. Sort of enjoyed it though! Garmin time - clock said 2.07 as I ran under it.

iRunSmartPhil A very good race, ideal running conditions, a few hills thrown in to test the legs and a few bottle-necks too which took a bit of getting used to.

Alfadan Slow and steady. My first run on the roads for nearly 5 months as having 2 new babies in the house doesnt leave much time for training (or sleeping, eating, cleaning etc)
I didnt expect much from this and I wasnt surprised with a slow time. I felt ok and didnt push hard as I knew I was out of practice. A good day with a sub 2hr jog round Reading. Nothing to write home about but I shall use this as a kick start back to my running trainng.
