March was another good step along the way towards running fitness. January was a write-off because of Covid, February was about building fitness, and March was about consolidating and seeing how far my current approach would take me.
Here's February for comparison:
and here's my March:
Overall, my mileage was up from 88 to 109 miles, and my pace improved from 9:28/mi to 9:17/mi.
At the end of Feb, I suggested some targets:
1) get sub-1300 average beats per mile ✅
In Feb I averaged 1334, and in March I got 1267 It feels like this might have plateaued a bit now, but I'll see. Back in my last good phase of training, I got as low as 1230ish - so maybe there's a bit more improvement to come from these easy runs.
2) 70% of mileage in Z0 and Z1 ✅
In Feb I got 55% in these two zones, and in March I upped it to 77%. Pleasingly, my Z1 pace dropped from 9:23/mi to 9:08/mi. I've found myself popping out a few 8:XX miles in this zone too, when the conditions are right.
3) maybe get to HM distance once in the month ✅
This was good - it was all on the flat, with a little trip to see Bennerley Viaduct:
It was almost all in Z0 and Z1, and I felt like I had a few more miles in the tank at the end. I also managed a 10 miler - also on the canal.
4) introduce a little bit of quicker running. Just a little.❎
Nah. I nearly did, but I didn't. The plateau in beats/mile means this is more likely in April, as I think I'm ready for it.
5) do an OWS before the end of the month❎
No - but I'm booked up for a swim at Box End tomorrow morning. It's currently peeing down, but the lake temperature has been creeping up, and I've got to make a start at some point.
6) get the bike out too. Even if just to look at.❎
Well, technically I went for a look at it. I've been doing some work to reorganise the shed - putting up some shelves to help improve the storage. So the bike got moved around a bit. Tyres feel a bit spongy, and my fingerless gloves had a bit of mould on them.
7) DON'T GET INJURED BECAUSE I'M ENJOYING MYSELF. ✅
Hooray - no injuries. The occasional tight calf, which I've tried to manage with an extra rest day here and there when I needed it.
--
My benchmark times have crept down (a minute off my 5k, two mins off my 10k, etc), showing the efficiency improvements I've been making at low intensity. And I smushed last month's record 694m of ascent with 1028m in March
Here are my goals for April:
1) Let's see if I can average sub-1260 beats/mile across the month.
2) Maintain 75% in Z0 and Z1 heart rate zones.
3) Knock out another HM, or at least a couple of 10 milers.
4) To help with the speedwork, 10% in Z4 &Z5, however it comes.
5) Build OWS to an hour-long session by the end of the month, if weather permits.
6) Definitely get a couple of bike rides in. Just for fun
7) STILL DON'T GET INJURED BECAUSE I'M ENJOYING MYSELF

Today I've been working on an improved version of fmail. Eventually, it'll replace the old fmail system (but don't panic, I'll still give you the ability to access your old messages, until folks stop bothering).
Why the change?
For informal chit-chat these days, most of us are used to the sort of interface you get with Messenger or WhatsApp - so I'm mimicking that sort of system. This new system should also make it easier for you to have 'live' conversations, without having to keep going back to view your inbox. Responses from your conversation partner should show up more-or-less in real time, so there's no need to refresh the page to check for updates.
Is it ready yet?
I just wanted to trial it out first, to iron out any usability wrinkles. Right now, it's not plumbed in to the notification system, so you need to be on the following page to see it in action:
fetcheveryone.com/fmail
Eventually, when you're *not* viewing the page, the 'Fmail' link in the page header will light up as usual. But obviously I can't make it do that without interfering with the legacy Fmail system. So for the best experience right now, you need a 'live' person on the other end to try it on.
I'm happy to be that person I'm around for 'til 5.30.
Other than that I won't say how it works - because I want to hear how intuitive you find it.

Here he is, all 6ft4 of him:
This summer he's trying to arrange a couple of weeks of work experience as part of his A-Levels. He's keen on becoming a sports journalist - his first email was to his local football club Notts County FC. He's had no luck with them or the other local clubs so far. He's happy to broaden his remit to other sports, or even to non-sporting journalism roles.
I wondered if *any* of you have any connections within a relevant sphere (or even a neighbouring sphere!) We have family and friends in various parts of the country, so location is not necessarily a stumbling block, depending on where
Leave me a comment if you can think of anything
Thank you!

HF? - I think he’s tried one local newspaper. There aren’t many about.5:33pm, 27th Mar 2023 -
He could try the BBC...wherever you want to do work experience with them, whether local radio or whatever, you have to go on the main BBC website and register there and (from what I remember when my friend's student daughter did it) you then list the kind of things you are interested in and they let you know what's available that would work. My friend's daughter got to work on some really interesting things and they gave her a fantastic reference for her next applications etc.BaronessBL6:11pm, 27th Mar 2023

He could also see if the local BBC station needs any extra help on their sports show - but be aware that BBC local radio is going through a huge period of change (by which I mean cuts) at the moment and they themselves may not even know what they are doing this summer at the moment.BaronessBL6:19pm, 27th Mar 2023

Montrose FC are looking to recruit one, or a number of people with an interest, experience and/or expertise in any and all forms of media to join their small team of dedicated volunteers.
From pre-match build-up, to full match day coverage and post-match interviews, analysis and reporting, we have a range of opportunities for the right candidate/s.

A lifetime ago, we had a page on Fetch where you could tell a friend about Fetcheveryone. It must have worked to some extent, because hey, here you are
I've never gone in for advertising - preferring instead to just keep doing what I do, and hoping that it's stuff that you want to tell your friends about.
I've rebuilt that page, so that it now has a unique URL for you to share. And to give you a bit of incentive to be creative with your sharing, there are badges! The first badge is for getting just one friend to sign up, then there's another at 5 and then 10.
I know that most of you have probably told your friends already - so I'm sorry that this isn't backdated. But I guess there's no harm in sticking it on your club forum, or on your local Facebook group, or anywhere else that has people that might like to hear about FE
Here's the link if you are up for it:
fetcheveryone.com/tellafriend.php
(or you can find it under People > Tell A Friend)
I figure that there must be lots of people who have not heard of Fetch - particularly if you listen to how many people have signed up to $trava with their $150M of investment. But please, just tell the nice ones Perhaps the note on the page should include 'PS No douchebags', just to be sure.
Thank you. For everything.

The folks at Sweatshop are currently running some banner ads with us. You probably won't have seen these if you donate to FE, as I've put them in the usual spot where the Google Ads go.
Generally speaking, I am keen to replace the Google Ads because:
1) they are often massively irrelevant
2) the money they generate is now about a sixth of what it was five years ago, and is only going one way.
3) the fewer corporate giants involved in FE, the better.
So I've been looking around for some more relevant companies that fit better with the Fetch audience. The folks who operate Sweatshop are down in Devon, and they like running, and swimming, and doing real stuff. Back when they used to have physical stores, I bought my first pair of proper running shoes from them back in 2005
I've set my advertising fees at a point that would be significantly less than someone would pay to Google or Facebook for advertising, which in turn gives me more than I'd get from Google Ads. It's a win all round, and helps me keep everything the right way up.
The first is an opportunity to be a shoe reviewer. You just have to fill in a few details, and they'll pick folks. I've done a review for them before - it's pretty simple - just answer a few straightforward questions and send them a few pics of yourself in the shoes - and you get to keep them. Obviously, not everyone who fills the form in will get to be a reviewer, and obviously they may well send you some marketing messages - but like any honest company, they have an opt-out if you get too many. Here's the link to that one:
fetcheveryone.com/bannercampaign-click.php?tag=sweatshop/shoereviews
And the second one is a straightforward chance to win a pair of ASICS GEL Nimbus 25. Just pop in a name and email address, just like the festive calendar:
fetcheveryone.com/bannercampaign-click.php?tag=sweatshop/winasicsnimbus25
There's also a discount code - FETCH15 for 15% off which I believe you can use at any time on any product.
Anyway... if these ads do work, I've every hope that Sweatshop will continue their association with us - so I thought I'd write a non-intrusive blog to point you at them. Ta

It's free, it's a bit of fun, and there are strands for bike, swim and 'run or walk' stuff.
Find out where this year's routes will take you:
fetcheveryone.com/fetchvirtualchallenge2023.php
All you've got to do is join up, and the challenge will automatically move you along the route as you log training. Logging begins at 00:00 on Sunday 26th March, and you've got until 23:59 on Sunday 29th October (when the clocks go back) to get as far along each route as you can.
There are badges to collect (32 if you can complete all three); you can check out StreetView along your way, to see if you can spot anything interesting; and it might just give you a bit of inspiration to keep the mileage ticking over.
Have fun!

FORM have very kindly sent me a pair of their Smart Goggles, and asked me to do a review. Full disclosure – there was no accompanying paper bag full of used fivers – so what follows are my genuine thoughts. Not that I would have changed my view for a bag of fivers, but it would have been nice. That's all I'm saying.
A bit of background on me as a swimmer: I've gone through phases of once-a-week pool swims in the past, but last year I had my biggest swimming year to date. I got involved in a 24 hour outdoor relay, and discovered that I actually quite enjoy open water swimming. I finished the year having swum just over 50 miles. On top of that, I've also entered a 9km swim this July – so there is plenty of swimming in my future.
Most pool swimmers at places I go turn up with all manner of floats, paddles, flippers and other mysterious toys; and they do lots of special drills to help improve their form in the water. I just swim front crawl up and down as many times as I can in the hour-long session. I started the year swimming a mile in 41:XX miles, and I've trimmed that down to 36:XX just by virtue of doing it regularly.
Obviously the biggest draw about these goggles is the ability to see your data live as you swim. I don't like doing what the proper swimmers do, but I *do* like seeing my stats. When you're running, it's very easy to see the numbers on your watch as often as you'd like. But it's a totally different kettle of humans when you're swimming. The only real opportunity comes when you turn for each length, and then (unless you want to stop) you've got a split second to angle your watch towards your face, and hope that the lighting and water are kind enough to let you see the numbers.
Frankly, it's a pain, and I'm lucky if I get the manoeuvre right about once every 250 metres. And without this feedback, I find my swim pace tails off a little bit towards the end of my hour. If I notice this during one of my frenzied glances at the watch, I put some extra effort in – but it still makes pacing pretty tricky.
So enough complaining about what once was – let's try these goggles out.
Here's what's inside the box:
there's a snazzy goggle box, a getting started leaflet, and a special adapter for adding a Polar HRM that sits on the strap of the goggles against your temple. The HRM itself isn't included, but it's a nice touch to include the adapter. I'll do a follow up on that in a later blog.
Inside the goggle box, there are also six additional nose bridges – which feels like a heck of a lot of options, but with the goggles retailing for £249, it makes sense not to fall at the first nose hurdle for the sake of a few pennies. And luckily for me, I seem to have a default nose!
I needed to let the straps out a bit to fit them over my swede of a head, but they sat well on my eyes. Here's a close up of the chunk of tech that sits on the side of one of the goggle eyes (just WHAT is the term for one goggle eye please?). It looks like there's a little projector-type thing in there; and a corresponding prism-type arrangement in the clear bit of the goggle that bends the light out to a focal point ahead of your eye. There are two buttons – one cycles through options, and the other is a 'confirm action' button. Not hard to use once you've got your head round it.
Here was my first (and pretty much only) cause for concern. I am pretty short-sighted (my prescription is -5.5 in my left eye, and -6.0 in my right eye), so the display was a bit blurred. With my contact lenses in, it was very clear. There doesn't appear to be anything in the settings to amend the focal length. I also wondered if this might be possible with some sort of insert to bend the light differently.
To see how much of an issue this might be, I borrowed Katie's lovely -4.25 eyes. She was able to read the display pretty well – so it seems that it's only an issue for severely short-sighted people. The goggles are reversible, so if you've got one eye that's better than the other, you can wear the display on that side.
There's an app that goes with the goggles. The set up is fairly straightforward – you just need to create a user account with FORM, and enter a few more details. The goggles talk to the app via Bluetooth, so you can amend some settings without having to wear them.
Anyway... let's get wet at last!
The fit in the water is pretty good. The peripheral vision isn't as good as a bog-standard pair of Speedo goggles, because of the chunk of tech on the side - but it's not too bad once you get used to it. And in fifteen hours of swimming, I've only had two tiny water leaks, and one slightly larger one when I pushed of from the side with a lot of vigour. The display is yellow, which contrasts very nicely with typical swimming pool blue.
Here's what it looks like when you're swimming:
The default pool swim mode gives you elapsed time and elapsed distance. The distance updates at the end of every length when it detects a turn, and it shows a split time for that length for a few seconds – long enough to take it in. And in terms of accuracy it has miscalculated only two lengths in 23 miles of swimming. These were both because I had to slam on the brakes mid length and switch to doggy paddle, due to a slower swimmer ahead of me. This level of accuracy is no mean feat – my Garmin Forerunner 935 is not bad, but occasionally throws in an extra length here or there if I've done an unexpected arm movement.
That instant feedback has been great for helping me with my pacing, and is undoubtedly the best feature of the goggles. If you're just bashing out lengths, it's so easy for your arms to fall into a bad habit, or for your legs to get lazy. I know that if my lengths are 34.29s or better, I am keeping pace – so every half a minute or so I either get a pat on the back, or a reminder to focus on my effort and form.
The post-swim analysis in the app is reasonable enough – you get all the stuff you'd expect to see, including all those split times, stroke count, etc, but it's also pretty good at working out which stroke you are doing too. Beyond that, it's not dissimilar to the post-swim analysis that you'd get with your Garmin or on Fetcheveryone.
Battery life seems great. The first charge gave me about 9-10 hours of swimming before they finally complained about low battery.
Beyond my simple swimming, the goggles come with a 12 month membership that gives you access to 1000+ workouts and the ability to build your own. So you could do an interval session, and the goggles would prompt you for efforts and recoveries etc. There are also 30+ training plans written by swim coaches. After the 12 month free trial, the current price is £13/month for access to these tools. Personally, it's disappointing that the workout builder is behind a paywall, as interval modes have been a part of GPS watches for over a decade now. On the flip side, just because the vanilla goggles won't let you build a workout, they can still help you track your pace during an interval session – you just have to remember what comes next in your workout plan.
The goggles also offer an open water swimming mode. You can pair them with a Garmin or Apple watch to make use of their GPS tracking; or you can just keep track of time and stroke rate if you don't have a compatible watch. I am hoping to get back to open water in the next couple of weeks – but unfortunately my Garmin Forerunner 935 is not compatible with the goggles. I will still try them out with the stroke rate mode and do a follow-up review.
Overall, these are extremely useful for immediate feedback and awareness of where you're at on your swim. For me, seeing the numbers as I go along brings a great deal of nerdy fun to my swimming. It would be great if future iterations had some ability to adjust focus for the seriously short-sighted; and paid-only access to the workout builder seems like a misstep. But most importantly, will I keep on using them? Most definitely.
Here's a link to them on Amazon - it's an affiliate link, so if you buy them, I get a few quid - but don't feel obliged :

A bit of background on me as a swimmer: I've gone through phases of once-a-week pool swims in the past, but last year I had my biggest swimming year to date. I got involved in a 24 hour outdoor relay, and discovered that I actually quite enjoy open water swimming. I finished the year having swum just over 50 miles. On top of that, I've also entered a 9km swim this July – so there is plenty of swimming in my future.

Nice, but ... how much!? Also, doesn't your pool have a pool clock? (Where I've been recently the time has been on large led screens.) Working out your splits and paces is good mental exerciseDvorak3:12pm, 22nd Mar 2023

I'm not much of a swimmer, but my wife bought me a pair of these for my birthday a few years ago. (We'd planned to give open water a good go, since there's a NOWCA site literally a 400 metres from our front door - but then covid did a number on both of us which put paid to that). I do go for the occasional pool session though.AndyS
I find them fairly comfortable. I'm long sighted (age related - I wear +2.0 glasses for reading, but that's about it), and can read the screen on the goggles clearly without correction.
I also have a Polar Verity Sense HR monitor, and they work well with that.
They're pretty neat, and I can see them being useful for someone that takes swimming even semi-seriously. To be brutally honest, I don't think they're particularly good value for someone that swims at my level - but you can take them from my when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.11:04am, 23rd Mar 2023

It is not just the distance which makes treadmill runs questionable for UTMOST (and any other pace-based games/events) but the treadmill conditions - totally flat, wind free, smooth reliable surface with no bumps, no changes of direction, constant speed of the belt, etc. which all enable higher speeds to be run for the same effort than outside runs.Flatlander1:45pm, 12th Mar 2023

There's a bit of fuzzy wording around the use of «unreliable». I would guess that treadmill measurements are consistently biased one way or the other, and consistently different in difficulty from outside running. GPS measurements, in contrast, tend to be a bit tandomly plus/minus, and outdoor varying conditions also create more random «noise» probably resembling a bell curve around the «true» estimate of WAVA. For the reason of trying to eliminate systematic biases I vote for treadmill exclusion.NordRundeer🦌8:05pm, 12th Mar 2023

It does start to beg the question of how far you go to make it fair? You can do a mile downhill with a tail wind which is equally unfair? Or there is a 10k down Cheddar gorge which is all down hill with some very fast times if your legs can handle it. But that is just me being contrary, I agree with the idea of banning treadmill times from UTMOST.Dillthedog7:37am, 13th Mar 2023

I do most of my runs on the treadmill and think they should be excluded. It is so inaccurate. I alter the distance on my watch before it uploads so the distance is correct but the pace still shows as way quicker than it really was.Lizzle11:21am, 13th Mar 2023

Also, please could they be removed from Benchmarks too? I find my Benchmarks useless as there are so many false treadmill ones, but too time consuming to remove them all individually.Lizzle1:36pm, 13th Mar 2023

I find them useful but I've fitted a Runn Treadmill Sensor to my treadmill so I'm confident in the data accuracy I get. I don't think I could raise a bigger "Meh" if I tried.AndyS
Whilst dreadmills can be inaccurate, so can GPS. My Garmin assures me that the London Marathon route is over 27 miles long. It isn't, of course, but it does go through Canary Wharf, which is always good for some GPS jitter).
I've seen some *really* wild numbers from GPS (e.g. my GPS-derived 1k benchmark - despite a *lot* of manual pruning of Really Unlikely Numbers - is 3:28. I can say without fear of contradiction that is well over a minute quicker than I've ever run 1km in my entire life)
Of course, it makes very little difference to me, as I'm languishing in the top half of D27 (a position which is due to distance, not pace - if I hadn't had the sheer bloody-mindedness to grind out a 3hr+ HM, I'd be in, or near, the relegation zone. An event, that in itself, has it's own set of substantial GPS tomfoolery).11:23am, 23rd Mar 2023
That's how many duplicate entries there are in the training log. As I write this, there are 13,037,771 training entries in total, so I make that roughly a quarter of a percent. Not bad I guess
I've written a bit of code that checks for these duplicates, and it sends an fmail to alert the owners (of which there are 4364). The fmail contains a link to here:
fetcheveryone.com/training-duplicates.php
which lists all the duplicates that my code finds. You can try it if you like, and see whether it picks up anything in your log. A duplicate is defined as:
1) same date
2) same starting time
3) same distance
4) same duration
5) minimum of 20 minutes
6) minimum of 2 miles
Those last two were added because my first attempt at finding duplicates threw up a lot of false positives. Some folks like to log their intervals as individual training entries - and if you're doing (say) 400m repeats, it'd not be uncommon to have a few of those with identical times. To compound that, prior to July 2021, the training log would round all start times to the nearest hour. Setting a minimum duration and distance reduces the likelihood of this happening. So there probably are a few short distance duplicates, but I figure these would have minimal impact on (a) your own records, and (b) any stats and tools that use the training log data.
It seems to have worked in principle, as about 320 of you had a tidy up But there are still plenty of people who could do with a bit of logscaping Most folks have a small number - 3746 have 10 dupes or fewer. But there are some absolute whoppers out there! To get in the top 10 big fish, you'd need 229 duplicates! And our current chief offender has 529 I will give all these biggies plenty of time to sort things out themselves, but if there's no sign of action I might do it automatically. But don't worry - I won't bother tackling the lesser offenders
I would guess that dupes on this scale are a result of using the ZIP importer. If you upload a big file, it can take ages to load the page. And the filenames of the FIT files exported from Garmin and $trava aren't in any way helpful when it comes to working out what's what. The other possibility is that people have multiple devices tracking e.g. a bike computer and a watch - and both then sync the same data.
Check out the link (you can also find it under Profile > Settings > Training Options), and have a prune where necessary.
And have a nice day Fetchies!

My four reported duplicates were all from 2016. I don't know how they happened. Maybe my Garmin watch transferred them to Garmin Connect twice? mine that popped up as duplicates were non watch ones that I manually logged - particularly commutes. 3 miles and 3 miles, but as I didn't change the time (I didn't care/think to) just wanted to remember I did it, it popped up as a duplicate. I had maybe ten (more from 2016 than any other year), and most of them had comments on saying something like "the track didn't upload, needed to upload it manually". I have occasionally logged things twice on purpose to compare different devices, but there I'd been deliberately deleting any duplicates that did come through.Badger10:55am, 10th Mar 2023

In response to your email a while ago I attended to some duplicate entries, but was at a loss to understand why they were there. Is it a glitch in the Garmin Connect software or is it at the FE end? I'm a clever sausage, too. Last month, I cleaned up a couple of walking entries that were duplicates, occurring in July 2018 and July 2021. No idea how that happened, must be a glitch in the matrix. Because they were the normal short walks to shops in the vicinity, I probably didn't spot them as duplicates because those distances always pop up in my log.tipsku10:38pm, 10th Mar 2023

I'm excited about the trig point and hill collecting thingy. There's nothing I like more than running to a set of near-arbitrary locations to tick things off a list. It gives every outing a purpose!
Slightly disappointingly, the map is fairly sparse around here. Without dragging or zooming, I count zero hills and 11 trig points. I'd collected 7 of 11 over the course of my time in Bedford. Some of them I've totally done without realising it - they are church spires, or the 'pinnacle' of the very fancy Bedford School. But our current nearest one is an actual pillar, half covered over by the hedge at the summit of Spring Lane (nasty bugger, that!). I'll get a photo of it next time we go past it.
The next nearest is TP2195, a 10k+ round trip - and I hadn't bagged it. It lives three quarters of the way up a fairly steep hill, so there's no wonder I've left it in peace But I'm trying to seek out hills now, and I wanted to capture it! OpenStreetMap shows the trig point in an open green area - but a quick look at the satellite view suggested that a great big building had been erected there. I was doubting my chances, but willing to try. So I set off yesterday, and frootled my way over. It's got an industrial estate vibe there, so no wonder I've not spent much time running in that direction.
Gah! It looks like the route to the trig has been blocked off. I was hoping for an opportunistic path between the buildings. I faffed about for a bit, then noticed that the big metal gates to the car park for the big new building were open. And behind that, a raisable gate was also open. I couldn't see any 'no entry' signs, nor any people - so wearing my most approachable and honest face, I took a little trot into the car park. I then passed two high-viz people and a man in a suit - the latter eyeballing me. They'd obviously come from the smoking shelter at the back of the building - and I had a small hope that there'd be enough space round back for me to reach the trig. Then I heard "EXCUSE ME!".
The game was up. I trotted back and did my best Hugh Grant (if Hugh Grant was Welsh and prone to bouts of sarcasm and pedantry and uncontrollable eye rolling). I put my hands up like I was facing down an armed officer, also wondering whether my outstretched wrist would magically put me inside the trig point 80m radius. Yes, the high-viz smoker man claimed to know about trig points. No, he didn't think I could get to it. Yes, he did eye me suspiciously. No, I don't think he trusted me. But yes, I reckon I could have out run him, if push came to shove. Thankfully there was neither.
It was time to leave. With a cheery farewell to the tar-loving high-viz man, I frobscottled my way back home. It didn't matter that I hadn't got all the way to the trig point. I'd had a little adventure, run up a big hill, and survived an embranglement with an authority figure.
Then I got home, and uploaded my run. A few minutes later I got a notification. A wrong one it seems, telling me I'd bagged a Wainwright. But once I'd fixed that bug (wires crossed somewhere), I went to my route, and had a look:
Yes!!! I have successfully come within 80 metres of something that I have not seen, but which I know is there. And I did not get shot. Or take up smoking. That's a win for me.
Here's the whole route if you're at all bothered:
You can see the hill in the middle. Not big enough to be classified in the big book of hills - but big enough that my legs knew it was there.
The next trig to collect is TP2172 ( fetcheveryone.com/points-view.php?id=27943 ) - which will mean a 10.5 mile run on a mixture of roads and footpaths to get there and back. I already know that there's no actual trig point there - it got torn down and smushed up with other rubble to make hardcore, according to one of the trig point collectors websites. But it's still fun to go run inside its circle I'll see if I can get that some time soon.
And once that's done, the next two are 15 and 18 mile round trips respectively. I'll be doing well if I can get those from home without getting the bike out. If I want to add to my hill collection from here, it's a 16 mile round trip to Brogborough Hill, standing a mighty 117m above sea level.

Frobscottled. My challenge for the week is to try and get that into a conversation! I hadn't realised trig points weren't all concrete blocks on top of mountains, have been quite surprised to have ticked a few off in unlikely places.Dillthedog2:24pm, 1st Mar 2023

Now this presents an ethical problem. Traditionally a trig point isn't bagged until you lay hands on it, so have you really bagged it? Bit like Wainwrights really. I'm hoping there's a way to relinquish ones I haven't "properly" bagged (as haven't checked yet).flanker5:53pm, 1st Mar 2023
