Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

ClaireT Well that was a tough wee course, didn't get into my stride until mile 9 because of the hills. Warm too - had to take water from a dodgy unofficial water station! Delighted to run under 1.29 and improve on my time from 4 weeks ago.

daviec GSR. Amazing run today. Just all fell in perfect. Garmin wasn't working so I just ran to feel and manually lapped. Missed the first mile marker so I wasn't sure how it was going till I hit mile 2 in 12.15 which felt fine effort wise. Next mile came in in 5.58 and I was feeling confident it was an effort I could hold for the distance.

Just kept going to feel and the miles were clicking off nicely. Resisted pushing on, but by 9 miles I had worked out a SB was on. Dodgy maths though (not a good sign for a maths teacher) as actually I was bang on PB pace, and managed to hold on to it for the last few miles. Proper base training racing though as I felt comfortable but couldn't really pick the pace up much. When I seen the clock at the finish line I couldn't believe how close to 80 I'd been and obviously now I wish I'd pushed on a bit, but absolutely delighted with a new PB, my best race performance ever, and my training is only about 4 weeks in. Honestly didn't see this coming :)

ianthevet No idea how this one was going to turn out - not been doing enough training recently and had had a nightmare of an LSR where I ended up hypoglycaemic, dehydrated and eight miles from home just six days ago.
Add in a house-party last night resulting in 2 hours sleep and a slight hangover and I wasn't exactly well-prepared.
Still, started out quite well and was feeling good averaging 7:25 for the first few miles, so started thinking sub-1:40 and a PB was on the cards. Ended up holding 7:31 according to my Garmin, but it underestimated the course so told me I'd run 13.25 miles in 1:39:33.
Very pleased, shame it's my last half of the year, but looking forward to Liverpool marathon in a few weeks and hopefully a good season next year!

Got through the start line at 1110hrs. Took it real easy at the start due to recent illness and lack of training. Ran with the brother-in-law for the first five miles then we got seperated. He later said he had gone off too quick. It was a warm day with very little breeze, must have been about 20 degrees. Had sun tan lotion on though and put a cap on. The Garmin got up to it's normal mischief and cut out 0.4 miles from the end. There was a chip attached to the number bib and it recorded my time as 1hr 48mins 00secs.

slow mo Very warm, kept to race pace, managed to get to 10 miles ok. 11 felt sick with jellybabies and glucose but needed the electrolytes as was sweating and feeling cold, shaky, legs like jelly but kept going! last wee incline almost did me but ran it all only walked to drink glucose and refuel at 6,8,10 and 12 miles. Heart rate rather high but put this down to heat and nerves. elation!

The Belly Is Gaun Tae Get Ye 5mile warm up then race then 4 miles cool down.

Enjoyed the slower pace with the exception of Miles 10,11,12 which were my equivalent of 15,16,17, where obviously I switched from burning carbs to fat.as I hit the wall. This also happens in marathons at this point. Took on too much liquid/sugar and ended with a double stitch. Managed to pull out a fastish last mile.
After a clothes change a wee jog back to Bellahouston to collect car.

All in all a fine day out and good practice for RAW as 11 M on Thur, 10M on Sat night them 22 in total today.

Took on lots of water, 2 gels, toilet stop at 5m. OK til about 7m, 8-12 were v hard and hot. Got 2nd wind at 12 and powered over the line.
Was never going to PB today but happy with the 19.66mi overall, in 2.54.48.
