Ally2 Looking forward to a big quality field. Will be happy with sub 1:16 and PB.
Gun time of 74:41 (chip 74:39) so massive PB and elite London start achieved. A dream race where everything went to plan, no stitch or noticable fatigue. Felt strong at the end. 2mile 11:13, 3mile 16:42, 5mile 27:51, 8mile 45:05, 10mile 56:45 (quicker than my PB), and ended with a 17:56 5k. Only passed by half a dozen runners, two in the last mile but made more positions up within the race. Must have been top 30 I guess, and chip time will be quicker. Came 30th.

Pricey Was a bit tougher than I'd expected but really enjoyed it. Ran well and stuck to my plan. Time a bit slower than I would've liked but this was only really a training run. Given the injury problems I've had recently, and a bit week leading into this, I'm pretty pleased.

At least I felt like I couldn't give any more by the end - and it was 3 or 4 secs a mile quicker than last week's 10M PB, so pretty pleased really! Splits look odd due to bizarre mile markers (especially mile 4 and 5) and also trying to follow 90minute pacer - only after 3 miles (3 to 5) at 20 seconds quicker than target pace did I realise he must be trying to catch up to 90 minute on the clock, not chip so eased back to more sensible pacing. Even effort may have got to 90 mins, but never mind - a good day at the office!

Caterpillar Oh pooh. I did an unexpected PB. Not by much, but it's a PB. I was convinced my 2005 New Forest 1/2 M time was 1:31:25. Darn. Wish I'd known it was 1:31:50. Robin Hood - 1:31:42. It's personal watch time not even official chip time yet, but it's what I measure and it's an 8 second PB. Blast - I would have told you to bet on me if I had thought that could happen. Sorry. :-(

Chip time allegedly 1:31:43. Web site results not working today so I can't check but it's with a second of the Garmin time, and I'd rather have 1:31:43 to beat ... :-)

watto**** Shittin it at the start, 7 months training allfor this, feeling the pressure. Relaxed straight into my running though, needn't have worried. Plan was steady 9min miles and concentrate, ran 8.50ish for first 5 splits, mile 6 and 9 were 9.20's due to big hills but i followed with 7 & 10 being 8.40 & 8.42, mile 7 was my best mile, came out of wollaton park and knew that 9 onwards was flat, i went through 10 in 1.30 thinking @3x9min miles and you have cracked it - easy! How wrong was i, them last 3 miles were killers, lookin at watch i could see i was hovering round 9.14ish i tried all i could to muster some speed in my legs but they were not playing ball, last bit was mint with crowds and i finally managed a spurt, last 1/4 was 8.04 for a first time PB of 1.58.39. Crap compared to others but it made my day :)

Fat Man Runs Woke up with a cold - probably shouldn't have run.

I think the only annoying thing is that my Garmin showed an average pace of 9.00 minute miles (which should have meant I was sub-two hours) the only problem was that it read 13.4 miles! Unfortunately by the time I realised it was to late to catch up the difference (and the cold meant I felt lousy anyway!).

...and how come it's all so expensive when you hardly get anything?

Unfortunately I'm nursing a tight hamstring so just looking to complete it really :-(. I haven't been able to complete my training, but I've put in enough milage before the injury to get around, albeit in a slower time than I was originally on course for. Mr Crabs had not trained for over two weeks before race as I had achilles tendon problems. Decided to run with aim of just getting round in 2 hrs 30 mins but achieved 2hrs 16.
Found race really difficult because i was running to protect my achilles as much as possible. It started to ache and got worse and worse especially on hills.
Now having physio and waiting for go ahead to start running again.
Still feel it was a real achievement though and raised £240 for charity.

~kate~ I can't believe it - not only did I finish I managed to get 5 minutes under my predicted time. This was my first half marathon and following what I'd read about the race I put more effort into my hill training than my pace training - it paid off. I didn't feel tired by the hills at all although my legs tried to disappear on me between miles 12 - 13. Got them back and realised the biggest battle was my mind. Fantastic organisation by experian and the stewards were AMAZING throughout. I fell over just after mile 6 and the St John's Ambulance patched me up and sent me on my way. brilliant, thanks to those guys. Roll on next September - I am officially hooked!!!
