Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Marigold Well I'm really chuffed that I managed to hit my VERY top end target of averaging 5:00m/m pace for my race today. Trouble is I foolishly ran 13.25 miles so ended up with 66:10 rather than 65:30

http://connect.garmin.com/splits/26349948

Joking aside, over the moon with the result

From the start I knew things were going to go quite well as my taper week (80 including todays miles) had made a real difference to the legs. Actually felt up for racing rather than the recent little picture races where not surprisingly my legs have felt dead before we started.

So headed off in the lead pack for a while and after realising I really shouldn't be running with 3 kenyans and Dan Robinson (amongst others), I stuck to my plan (ish) and settled into just under 5:00m/m pace. Feeling very comfortable and got into a nice stride running with Kairn Stone and confidence levels were high until we turned into the wind at 4 miles.

Started to feel quite hard to maintain 5m/m pace but was there or there abouts. 3 miles later and we were back with the wind again and feeling a little easier again. Basically ran the whole way with Mr Stone until mile 12 when my legs let me know the free ride was over and turned to lead!
Lost the 10 seconds that would have got me a 65:xx in mile 13 and watched my race partner grab a few meters to take 9th place to my 10th.

Very good days work and pleased my training so far has paid off, target 2:18 is still within my grasp!

Krukers Well organized race! I don't think I've seen so many marshals and helpers and water stations for a 'half' before.Great support from the crowds, who braved the cold. My feet were frozen.Couldn't feel my toes for the first 4miles!!. COurse not as flat as expected, but the last mile wasn't as 'up' as I'd feared..Definitely one for diary for next year.

CaptainDad Start was a joke again. Couldn't keep warm or stretch properly. Too cold, should've wore more on upper body. Blister on left foot after 9 miles. Cold wind everytime I went in the shade really effected ny legs. Both calves cramped up on13 miles, had to hop for a little bit. Just managed to beat Michael Jackson

anitad Much better than last year; 1:05 for 10k; ran out of energy after about 10miles and had to run/walk the rest. Under trained for long runs even though faster pace throughout. Shame about the wait between finishing and goody bags especially in the cold with no silver sheets to keep warm. Better organised at start than last year but bit of a fiasco at the finish. Not sure whether to do it next year.
