Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

MAD Superman Weather great, if a little hot towards the end. No wind. Started a bit quick and settled at a pace slightly faster than intended, hence the 1:26 half and 2:11 20M times (a 3min pb) but it felt comfortable. Averaged under 6:40's until 20m and 7 pace from 20m tol 24m so pleased. The last 2m were really hard work and it was a case of hanging on. Course fast with a few climbs along the river. The 1k through the underpass was strange as was the narrowing of the course at the half stage. Water every 5k. Good support throughtout and delighted with the time. Finished position 819 and went under 3hrs for the first time.

Naomi P This was my first ever marathon in 2003, and will be number 12 this year. Only set my (tough) PB 8 weeks ago in Barcelona but really want to go sub 3'40 and this is probably the marathon for it this spring. Fast and flat route, just hope it isn't too crowded. *Update* Sorry to all those who bet - I intended to go for 3'30 but was 3 minutes down by 5k, then there was a complete standstill after the first water station. Got to half way in 1'50, so that was 5 minutes down and after a lot of effort dodging people. Blew up at 25k, and my right quad caved in too. Hopeless. Strange atmosphere today, quite aggressive, lots of pushing and shoving and water stations were a ruck. Wouldn't do a big city marathon again, so many runners really don't help.

GDownes Beautiful course, and great weather for it, although with so many runners it was tough to get into a rhythm. With hindsight I dont think I was in shape to get to 3:30 and should have gone for something a bit more realistic, was a lot of work to only take 3 mins out of my PB.

Slimster 1st ever Mara, can't wait to do it, especially in Paris...Update: The heat got to me, feet swelled creating lovely blisters and black toe nails again... + just ran out of steam, that last 7k seemed to go on forever, but saying all of that still completed it and enjoyed it, and I will definately give the mara another crack, just not this year!

hopisen First marathon. Really excited by it. Wold like to beat 5 hrs, or even 4.45, but frankly, just finishing will be a huge achievement.... UPDATE: Loved it. Ran slowly as wanted to enjoy the experience. felt strong through most of it (except 30-35k which was a bit of a drag) - no wall, no sense of exhaustion, an amazing day - could prob have run ten or fifteen mins faster if pushed it, but this was a day for pleasure and acheivement, not pain. Next time, I'll go for pain.. and the best thing is I'm really motivated and want there to be a next time!
