Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

In good shape for the Paris marathon but on the day stomach problems put paid a decent time. Stomach was unsettled at the start and I expected it to settle down but in the end it was like running 26.2 miles with a stitch which just got worse every time I tried to take on water. Unfortuantely Gavin Harvie had to pull out the day before and ended up running with a friend of his. Stuck together at sub 2:55 pace until around 18 miles before stomach cramped up. Lack of water, left me dehydraded and took a dizzy turn at 19 miles and had to stop. Walked for a bit taking on water but every time I tried to resume running my stomach would cramp up again. In the end walked as much as I ran over the last 7 miles and threw up when I got back to my hotel. A couple of positives, great course and would definitely recommend the race and my legs are still reasonably fresh and do not feel that they have ran a marathon. On the downside, gutted with time and stomach still in pain today. Gavins friend went on to finish in 2:58.
