Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

MartyK A very rainy MK Half. Started ok and got to a decent pace, although there was plenty of weaving through human traffic. Passed 4 miles at 30mins and half way at 50mins. Started to tire a little after 8-9 miles but the main issue was my right knee. I could feel a slight niggle from 7 miles but it wasn't a problem until around 10 miles (1:17), after which it started to hamper me. I had been looking at finishing around 1:42 which is around my PB time, but ended up having to hobble the last 2.5miles and lost nearly 5mins. Not a bad time overall, but annoying compared to what could have been. Also, the rain turned to snow as soon as I finished the race, so it took hours for my hands to defrost!

Ready poured down with rain the whole time and was quite cold. However felt pretty good until about the last 2 miles which was then quite hard especially the last hills.

Tim of Fife MILTON KEYNES HALF-MARATHON - 2:00.40 (stopwatch) (60.45 / 59.55) - 2:00.41 per chip - placed 1600th of 2737 finishers - For the first time in a race, I was determined to use the exact same run/walk ratio that I use when training in the gym. So, today, I ran for 5 minutes, then walked for 1 minute. Interestingly, despite taking six minutes more worth of walk breaks than I did last year (when I only took them at mile markers), today's time was fully 5 minutes quicker than a year ago. Despite never training outdoors, I felt strong pretty much throughout (albeit with the odd wobble). The exception was the last mile back up to Xscape (not quite as flat as my gym treadmills. (Ran for 5 mins at varied kph, then walked for 1 min at approx 6.0kph)(Total distance run was 19.2 kms & total distance walked was 1.9 kms)

Watford Wobble Will be giving it a pop at my current PB.

Gel at 6 miles next time take 1 at 4 1 at 8. Only two sips of water at 3 and 7. Compression socks worn and new 2160's. Very cold with wind and rain and sleet towards the end of the race. Started too far back of the field. How far back? No one over took me.

Position 495 / 2737 runners. Gun 1:40:57 / chip 1:35:49.
