Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Go-KL Was meant to do the marathon - they wouldn't let us. They should have let us. It was bad, but not impossible, and we run at our own risk.

DaveH Should have been the marathon. Got to the start to be told (via someone who could translate the garbled rubbish spouting from the tannoy) that the marathon had been binned and we were all doing the half. Shambles.

Dowse Oh man, where to begin?!? More detail in the blog, but:
- Arrived to be told that they've cancelled the marathon due to the weather and that they're forcing everyone to do the half marathon. Months of training wasted and now I'm 13 miles short for the month. I don't see how the green way was suitable for the half marathon, but not the full marathon. Sorry to those who betted, 1100 refunded.
- Organisation total crap at the start, as usual, no pens and lots of people in the wrong place.
- Water given out in cups was pointless as they spill everywhere, only bottles were a couple of miles in and at the finish and no isotonic drinks.
- They actually tried to give out sponges even though it was raining the entire time?!
- Cold conditions, but no foil blankets for finishers even though most had a 10 minute walk in the rain to the sports centre.

Probably won't do this again under current management. I've fed back about the organisation at the start and the water a number of times, but they don't listen.

Positive: The marshals were amazing for standing in the rain for so long and really supportive towards the end.

ifor Atrocious conditions. Absolutely horrible. Cold North wind 25-30mph gusting higher up to 40+. Rain most of the time, at least drizzle the whole time.
Hard going into wind all the way last 4 miles. Felt strong though and could have done a bit more.

coxar At mile 4 of the marathon I heard via Chinese whispers that the marathon had been cancelled and all marathon runners were being diverted to the half marathon course. The weather was atrocious with driving rain, low temperatures, and gusts of wind up to 30-40mph. I was pacing to 4:15 at that point, so decided to attempt to up the pace to get a sub 2 hour half under the belt. 8:30 miling through cold three inch deep water. Nice. Gutted to see 4 months of training wasted. I know it isn't totally, but all the same that's how it feels. Garmin Trace
