Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

No.8 â„¢ What a great event, reminded me of Dublin Marathon had the feel of a city marathon. Great organisation, started right in the middle of the city centre, almost outside Starbucks and out to North, looping round a back in again and finishing near the embankment with loads of stuff for the kids and stalls etc. Lots of people clapping and cheering all the way round, flat course, good parking and clockwork organisation. Even had bottled water at the stations, I don't usually drink on the way round but did twice because of that. Results were up at the end, finished 42nd taking 1:28 of my previous PB - a good day all in all. Race analysis will be in my blog.

Wicked D a very enjoyable Half which is a must do again next year (07) apart from the start being congested (heyho) this was a well organised event
i will have a different tactic next year and also better training before it with also a years experience behind me so i will be gunning for a course PB at the very least

Highlanderchick Been out of action for a couple of weeks so not expecting any good results here.
Enjoyed this race, good atmosphere at the start, didn't find myself tripping over people as in the Nottingham race. Hope to be back next year

Greenman Despite the congestion at the start I managed to work my way through in the first 1.5M and then continued to progress all the way. Enjoyed the course - plenty of support and dead flat.

Marts Flat fast and 2000 entered.
What a fab day. Course was as fast as looked like it would be and good support. All roads completely closed off. Big PB. Massive PB. actually set PB for 10miles and Fetch PB for 5 miles but not including them as not official.
Saw No 8 finish but so many people on the embankment that didn't get chance to say Hi. finished 23rd according to prov results. Well Done to organisers.

april_runner Average Pace: 8.37/mi Best: 6.11/mile
This was my first half and I really enjoyed it - boring but pleasantly flat course. First event that I have come across other fetchers - saw Girlie (though didn't have a chance to say hi), a fetchite with blonde ponytail and Scottish flag on fuel bag, two fetchers in yellow(?) club vests, Greenman before start - but most noticeably Disco, who ran with me from miles 4-12. I'd had 4 straight days of rest before the race and it did me wonders - I felt like I was really floating along for first seven miles. I got more tired as it progressed, but didn't really feel it until last two miles. Disco went for it on the last mile - I did too, but he burned me off! I am happy with my first Half time :)

frizzle Think a PB is probably out of my reach now. Had a lot of time off with my foot. Have readjusted my predicted time but will see how training goes!!!
Update: Well these were my thoughts a couple of weeks ago but my coach (old man) had other ideas! Went off at quite a good pace (maybe a little too fast!!) but kept it together until mile 8 where the pace started to drop a little. Pushed really hard at the end and knocked 2 minutes off my PB.
Great crowd support. It was fab running through werrington and hearing friends and fellow club mates cheering us on!!

Old Man Looking forward to the return of my local towns half, its been away too long!!
Back on the old course, wearing your club vest as you run through Werrington must be like wearing the black and white of the toon at St James Park!!
Update - simply a brilliant event!! Running in your home town, in a big field with huge support, especially family and friends ranks this up with London - they don't come much bigger, role on 2007!!

Ricardo Wasn't expecting to do much better than my first half, but since this was fairly flat, made good progress and really went for it at the end. I didn't even see the clock until I'd crossed the line! Woo a PB!
