Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

running26 With no real training due to injury I am very pleased with the time and possibly could have gone a little faster but expected to tire at 10miles which didn't happen.

OJ Came down with a cold and chesty cough 48 hours before - did the race anyway, but perhaps should have adjusted my pace even further.

Did first 6 miles bang on pace (using pace band and within 10-20 secs at all mile markers, which I thought was good going considering it was a huge and congested race and I was still passing fun runners at mile 4) but then started to struggle from 7 on.

Not helped, I have to say by needing to make an unscheduled wee stop thanks to toilet chaos at the start. Scraped in under the hour after a dire final 3 feeling quite yuck with some odd symptoms like stitch which I've never had before - walked whilst taking on water and had a short walk to blow nose and recoup about every mile between 10-13. Sprinted the last 200 yards as there was no way I was going over the 2 hours, cold or no!

Support was brilliant, lots of people out at the Arena end and around Sefton Park/the prom. Particularly club mates. Top support.

Whoever Perfect morning - cool and calm, just a bit early at 09:30 start for the day the clocks changed ! Had a tricky start - too far back and was a big crush for first couple of km - big steps and little steps. Once through that stayed steady for first 10km (41:22) then started putting in a consistent 4min/km rate for remainder of race (10miles at 65:50). Very pleased with energy remaining at 10 miles and ended up with second PB at HM this year ! Race was well organised, well marshalled, great event with 7500 runners. Key is how windy it is - was calm this year for final 4 miles along the seafront - bliss compared to 2010 :-)

Philippe Flop Got to the start late due to roadworks. This meant we were well back at the start - nearly 12 mins gone when we went through the start. Plus felt there were too many so made it very difficult to get going.
