Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

BlueWombat Well, that was about average for this year. I hadn't run since 6th September, was a bit fat and unfit, and this was my seventh marathon in seven months. While I'm doing this one a month stuff there is clearly no way to tackle my PB ... I think I showed that you can't run a good race on next to no training! Enjoyed it none the less, especially enjoyed meeting a few fellow Fetchies and sharing their joy at all the tumbling PB's around me.

DIY Diva As long as there's no heatwave...I will definately PB. Training has gone perfectly with hill & speed sessions included for the first time. I'm as ready as I could ever hope to be with only shin-splints (under control) as the mileage increase 'niggle' to surface this time around. So I suppose it would be worth risking your points :-) Bib no F8944**UPDATE**WHOPPEE! I've put the race bit in a blog.

eL Bee! HO HO HO :)Ever who bet on me.......... Thank you for your confidence. I'm REALLY happy with this race for quite a few reasons.
1) IT WAS A PB!
2)I had a plan which I stuck to - and it worked a dream!
3) I paced it really well
Half Marathon Splits: 1:35:30 | 1:35:42 :)
10K Splits:45:18 | 45:10 | 45:26 | 45:31 :)
5K Splits: 22:45 | 22:33 | 22:36 | 22:34 | 22:31 | 22:51 | 22:40 | 22:51 :)
Had a couple of Km's where I lost it a bit, and had to hold off calf cramp for the last 3 or 4K, but other than that the race couldn't have gone better, I couldn't have run quicker, I was REALLY pleased with my pacing, and the fact I was still running strongly at the end (last 5 K I passed literally 100's of people who were slowing up)
I aimed for 4:30's per Km - and averaged 4:31
That'll do for me :):)
Off to eat half a Farmyard now ;)

flanker Got to go sub-4. Just not sure yet how much sub-4 I'm aiming for! Might stick with the 9mm pacer until 18 and then see how it feels. Or might go out a bit faster. Hmmmmm....

UPDATE: Went out too hard and blew it. I have a feeling I will be back for revenge next year.

Hills of Death (HOD) Oh my word what have I done :+0-. UPDATE Training not Going well had a couple of injuries. Flight all booked now etc...Will be out there with Sango, Warrior and Andy E - Sango should smash 3 hours. UPDATE Finally got back with a PB and a sub4. Happy & delighted to go over line....could of been faster but 26 miles you can't go too fast ! With right training can do 3.35. Great day more later......(made it 26.66 ???). I was jostled from the start was getting the hump I was very keen on lumping a few Germans then a small Greek lady run in front of me and landed on her face it was chaos in the first 3 miles. Got punched by a German Woman about 20 mile for stop to have a drink as she ran into me and a guy refused to give me a banana. That was the highlights Ho Ho. I did enjoy this kept running legs slowed after 18. It is a must do Splits 1st Half 1.53 50 2nd 2.01 07 so quite even :)

Kieren injured through for 7 weeks through June July. Hoping I can build enough of a base in August to get me through Berlin. At this stage, not getting injured again is more important than my finishing time. **UPDATE** Ran to a plan for the first time ever and it really worked well. Hamstrings & ITBs suffered a bit in the last 5km but I'm amazed how well the legs held up. I've never 'raced-smart' before so this was a real education for me.

Max71 Well let's see if I can actually make it to a marathon without having to pull out from injury. I'm guessing my time right now because it seems so far away and my fitness is far from perfect right now. **UPDATE** Fantastic race, went according to the plan, ran the whole thing kept it nice and steady. I went out to enjoy this race and that's exactly what I did, I had a blast. I made sure my first marathon was one to remember, I drank enough, I took enough gels, I took on bananas. Perfect, absolutely perfect.

Highlights included...man running in socks, flip flops with a rucksack on...oh and an ironman t-shirt. The two guys sat outside a pub in their running gear and numbers having a fag and a beer....and the guy at the side of the road by the tree also having a fag.

Roo No real training, only a couple of long runs. No sleep the night before, faded badly in the second half - in the end was pleased to get back in (just) under 3:35. Great course, great conditions - pity I was not fit enough to run a PB... maybe next year!?!!
