Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

STATUS Glen Clova half marathon 2:30:08

About Me
When I first took up running in February 2001 it was in the cover of darkness so that no-one would see me, at least until I was fit enough to look a bit like a runner.

Music was very important too me as it was the driving force in getting me outside and giving me the confidence, running to the beat of the music would let me up tempo and cool down without walking. It was very important to me to keep running even if it was at a slow pace it would not be a walk. I entered my first race in 2001 for the Race for Life and the feelings of complete and utter euphoria after completing my first 3mile running without stopping and raising money for a good cause gave me the bug. I have progressed from there to where I'm at today with the double challenge in 2010 to run 2 marathons Paris & Edinburgh within 6 weeks.

At school I always loved running and the 100metres and 200metres that was my distance, I would say I could never run 800metres and was in awe of the pupils who could run this far.
I never thought in a million years that I would complete 3 Marathons :-0

It's amazing the way we change our perception's as we go through life on what we can achieve.
A period of illness stomach pains and drastic weight loss for a year before being diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in a skelatol state on the 18th September 1998 with spread to my lymph nodes, not knowing if I'd make it.
Major surgery and 30 weekly sessions of chemotherapy.

Enough said with exception to the support I have recieved through work colleagues friends and family and the medical profession and sheer determination to get where I'm at today, and it feel's bloody good I can tell you.

I feel like a good story and a light for anyone going through a cancer diagnosis, it's not always doom and gloom there are positive outcomes as well and I'm living proof.:-)
