Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

AJFleming Perfect conditions for me, although the standing around at the start made for an uncomfortable first few hundred metres. Also - what on earth was the point of the dude on the platform doing the warmup? Where I was standing - close to the start of the

APC My time had this at 41.56 which would (strangely enough) equal my PB which is pleasing considering the usual crowds and occaisional joggers & walkers!

However as this is chip timed I gues I have little choice but to accept the official time.

This event as good as any event of this size can be, with size comes compromises. Well organised and good support from loads & loads of spectators.

bevunit Got a PB by a 20 or so seconds. Shouldn't really have expected any quicker since I hadn't put the training in. The race was well organised with a good atmosphere. Got stuck in a big traffic jam getting out of the city which wasn't ideal but otherwise a good day. :-)

Ehlne A tough race this, but I really pushed myself. Started out too fast (as usual!), but still made it well inside 55 minutes. Sub 50 mins will be a nice goal for next year.

Obigone Was looking for another sub 50mins but with my gammy knee I'll be happy just to get round! **UPDATE** Well suprised myself with a 47:58! Glad to get round with no pain from my knee! Would possibly have threatend my P.B. if not for having to bob and weave through the field! Great to be part of a really big race, but why do people insist on putting themselves in the wrong wave!:-( Some of the runners we passed were walking before 1km!!! Met Micksta before the race, and ganbaru KATATSUMURI during(outside Old Trafford), nice guys! All in all a good day!!

Pink Shoes Loved it!! My first ever race. I ran with my husband who paced himself against me for the first 5K, i think this helped me improve my predicted time.

It was a rainy day which helped keep me cool. I was racing for charity therefore wearing the charity tee-shirt which was a mistake as it was very heavy and cumbersome when wet.

Quite a flat race which was good for improving my confidence as i got round the whole 10K without having to stop for a breather :)

Should Av Run Quicker Did this in 2005 in exactly the same time. Flat course but don't get caught up in the middle of the pack. Get to the start earlier to get a good place. Which I didn't.

Stevie B Aiming for sub-45 but I've been a bit hit and miss with training lately and I seem to weaken at longer distances. Will beat Ash though.

Very wet and very crowded (I'm not used to that many people) despite the wave system. Despite that felt pretty good throughout and felt fine keeping my water on me (I changed an empty bottle for a full one at the water station manned by Army Cadets). When someone tried to overtake my near the end I sped up... and up till at a sprint. The clock time was about 43 and half minutes but the SMS service made it 41:10. I agree with AJ about the warm-up guy. No-one was interested in him anyway. Saw some fetchites; someone wearing the shirt with someone who might have been one with him in my wave (Orange) and a woman in another wave at the 2/8 Km point.
Passed Gordon Burns of NW Tonight pretty early on. Saw Eric Pollard and other Emmerdale crew at the end. I think they beat me though.
