Ran my straight, flat, traffic free mile this evening. Rather than focusing on the finish line I tried to just focus 10 yards in front. Ended up 1 second slower than last month! 8:37

Well done, Night-owl, Fizz, Mrs Jigs and westmoors.

I did the benchmark run of the Garmin Coach programme yesterday, 2 minutes warm up, 5 fast, 2 minutes cool down. I was a tad faster than marathon pace for the warm up and then I ran as fast as I could for 5 minutes. 6:34 pace for the 5 minutes which is great. I'd have to keep that up for a mile to get a PB. Fetch gave me 6:49 for the mile (including a part of the warm up) so I put that down for now. I hope to repeat the time trial at that pace and keep going for another lap later in the month. If my legs cooperate after the marathon, I should be good for a PB attempt.

Well done Westmoors and tipsku.

Our track session either this week or next week should include a timed mile so I'm hopeful of getting a time logged soon for November.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
