I guess it's your own mile so own rules. Do folks tend to do the same mile every week as in the same gradient etc?

Choose your mile however you want, a separate mile or one from any run, run/walk or walk you want. Take your time from the benchmark times at the bottom of your training entry or from the benchmarks tab under training.

Looby Loo if I run a separate mile I have used the same one so far as it is out in the open and the wind always has an effect.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.
