I have used different miles but then the last 3 have been impromptu and decided to do them whilst running

I've used comparable sections of flat tarmac path and chosen days without much wind.

Flatlander
I don't have many choices that don't involve crossing junctions, dodging pedestrians, running alongside busy roads with lots of exhaust pollution, or a long distance to run to. Those I can use are exposed to the wind, so I choose whichever one that is not into a headwind.

Today's attempt was with a cross/tailwind, and after a first 1/4 mile at 9:08mm pace I picked up speed and finished in 8:39. Not bad considering one leg has not been co-operating for almost a month, and far better than the 9:30 or even 10 minutes I feared might happen.

An excellent turn of speed Flatlander considering the lack of leg cooperation, very pleased for you.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
