I might give this a go for November. I just got 9:31 from a benchmark last week and will do a deliberate effort for next month. It might encourage me to speed up a bit.

Thanks Ness, FF, Velociraptor and Bowman. And special thanks to SNR/OH for talking me into doing it - certainly makes a difference running a mile as a specific effort rather than as part of a longer race/training effort. Fancy new shoes (Saucony Endorphin Pro 3) helped too 😊

Well run everyone

October mile was part of a Octobers virtual 5k
Very happy with 6:13 joint fastest of 2023 (the other one a stand-alone mile from May)

Well done, riggys99 And nice consistency, EvilPixie, it shows that the improvement in your pace is a very real thing.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
