Last year when it was very hot I ran in the early hours after I'd got home from work but I don't tend to run in the dark. I like to be able to see where to avoid the dog shit people don't clear up.

Derby Tup you're my tribe. I have several streak savers after 11 pm :)

During the lockdown when no in-person races were on, I did virtual events based in the US where I had to get out at weird times, e.g. a virtual relay leg where I started a 2 am (5 pm on the West Coast). Fun was had, sleep not so much.

Oooh, this looks fun. I like the idea of trying for a mile time every couple of weeks or so.

I shall try to get out to get a time in the next week or so, then hopefully chip away at it.

Hope it goes well for you, sombrero.

Later this month I'll be on a cruise ship for a couple of weeks so will have access to a treadmill for the first time in ages. Think it'll be interesting to see if it helps me in the preparation for the next Virtual Mile.

Great mile, Owlie!

I have an actual mile race this coming Friday. Not feeling very confident about it. I'd intended to do some specific speed training for it but like most of my intentions that fell by the wayside. Oh well :-)

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
