I did my first virtual mile this month. 8:04, a little disappointing, but my track mile PB is only 7:05 and that's from January 2009. My recent best was 7:18 in December 2018. I'm pleased that I wasn't scared to run hard and be uncomfortable (average over 90% WHR).

I'm pleased you feel able to pop back in and have a go again GimmeMedals.

Well done Velociraptor and something to aim at improving on, that was a great time.

Thanks :)

Yes, having done one I've got more of an incentive to keep doing them.

Well done Velociraptor. :-)

Haven't worked out when I'll be doing my September one but it's a good challenge.

I had a go at the September today. I chose the first rep of what was supposed to be 5 x 9 min tempo. I ran the first pretty much flat out and managed 7:15, about a 67 WAVA. By last year's form I should be able to get below 7, and I also had to drop the last two intervals. Still, at least it was quite a decent training effect.

Well done NordRunner, a hard flat out mile before those efforts was ambitious however you got the mile done so well done.

Haven’t done a all out mile yet but have had some reasonable mile splits in longer runs so am hopeful for something OK later in the month

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
