Hello virtual milers. Not much of the month left now so it's time to think about getting it done and stop putting it off.

I've added July and August 2024 virtual miles to the links below so you can add them to your race portfolios now.

Thanks FF my attempt will be part of a virtual 10k I am planing at the beginning of September in preparation for a real life half marathon in the middle of September

I haven't made a deliberate attempt yet this month but got my quickest mile this month this morning in an unexpected progressive run. Will try and make a proper attempt before the end of the month!

I left it pretty late but I finally got it done: 6:42 for August which is the fastest since February. I made the most of cooler temperatures, 15°C on Tuesday when last week Tuesday, it was 28°C so I didn't even try.

Progress so far:
Jan: 6:50
Feb: 6:37 (PB)
Mar: 7:09* (I think the fastest mile of a 6k race or so)
Apr: 6:51 during marathon taper
May: 6:46
Jun: 7:25* (probably from a race)
Jul: 6:56 (too hot to run faster)
Aug: 6:42

Maybe I can beat my PB in September and get down to 6:30 by October.

I probably wont do a hard 1 miler this month, but i knew that.
But i might have to do some fast stuff in the coming next week's here and there.

We're very close to the end of the month just a day and a half (+ a bit) left and anyone still contemplating a virtual mile really does need to get their shoes on and get out of the door.
Well done to those managing a mile this month whether faster or slower, you got one done.
September's virtual mile isn't far away for those itching to start the month off.

I had planned to have another attempt yesterday, but when I got home from work I didn't feel like it so just went out for an easy 4K.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.
