I gave it a go (not a very successful one) this morning. Do I put in what the split shows as the fastest mile, or what the monthly analysis breakdown shows as the fastest mile? I thought that the latter picks out the fastest bit overall so would be more likely to be the most accurate? I'm losing faith in my garmin seeing as how it bunged a huge mountain at the beginning of yesterday's run!

Well done, minardi :)

I treat it as a freestanding race, run the mile from a standing start, stop the watch at 1.01 miles, and use the one-mile split.

So. Today 9.37, doesn't count, steep downhill half way! Still I reckon I have that in my legs on the flat.

minardi I use the benchmark mile time IF it's part of a longer run.
Don't worry about it OS I try to use a regular 1m if possible, it's mostly half a mile into the wind 0.3 side and 0.2 back wind if the wind is it's usual self anyway.

The next proper attempt will be in 2 weeks time, warm up, aim for 9.45, on the flat. I have a local canal :-)

I’m waiting until I get home to do mine. It’s ridiculously hilly here!

You put the event in your race profile
Run a mile
Put in the result

Repeat another month
The listing is for the first but you can run it anytime

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
