Do a mile whether a single mile or part of a longer outing. If part of a longer outing take your benchmark time from the bottom of your training entry. Enter the time in the race listing, job done. Good luck.

Once again I didn't choose the best day for my mile. The Met Office said 26 mph winds with gusts of 39 mph and the direction meant it was a headwind for my mile course! A disappointing 8:54.

That's tough, Westmoors! Though not a bad time. Might you have another attempt in you for later in the month or will you leave it till March?

That's not a bad time considering the wind westmoors well done. I hope the weather plays ball for your next attempt.

I tried to run a fast mile on the track yesterday. It was a bit breezy and warm. I ran in a t-shirt. I was hoping for sub 7 and I got it, 6:54. But it was hard! I still have a long way to go until I get back to where I was in December (6:36). The tree pollen don't make it easier.

Well done tipsku a great effort. I'm way short of where I want to be. Coming off the asthma inhaler has had a huge effect on my speed work or it could be that I don't do enough training or try hard enough.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
