Day 8 complete.
I definitely need bigger weights. Have mentioned this to hubby now so probably more likely to actually happen as he’s offered to stop somewhere on way home from work to try to get some.

Hope your husband keeps to that, Elsie.

And congrats on Day 8 - the one where you're likely to think 'HOW many more variations on these bloody hip thrusts can there be?' It's a goodie for runners though - as is Day 11 which I did for the second time today: mainly lunge variations but also calf work.

I'm now into CG's week three, following exactly. However, I will quote my blog: '...this week I'm thinking I need a cut back week to consolidate. Seems sensible. My half hour weights sessions have more or less become a manageable good habit so I will probs keep to the 5 sessions this week - but seriously cut the weights, even do bodyweight on the Friday, the full body day.'

I realised this is the start of my tenth week of fairly intense weights work and I'm therefore due a lighter or in some way less intense week. I 'could' increase the weights and go harder but it would just be to prove something to myself ... and that's not always sensible. Recovery and consolidation is.

Anyway I have four 1.5 hour dance classes again this week!

10 weeks that’s impressive- yes I think a cut back week sounds very sensible.

Hubby just got in from work with a set of 4kg dumbbells for me :-)

Well done everyone. I'm sticking with doing these sessions once a week, and I missed last Saturday in preparation for my race on Sunday, but I've enjoyed the sessions I've done so far.

I have stepped away from IRON. I developed a painful shin - shin splints I think though I had got to wondering if it was a broken leg due to the pain *drama queen 👸*. Dr Google suggested it could be the result of suddenly doing lots of lunges. It hung around for a couple of weeks but has gone now, so the rest has helped. I need to build up slower.

Glad you're on the mend, GimmeMedals. Iron has definitely been a bit of a shock to the system at times and I don't think I could do it to CG's 30 day timeframe on my first go! Maybe second time round, like Sharkie.

I also made it through the endless RDL and hip thrust variations of day 8 yesterday evening, and possibly also need some heavier weights. Need to think about position on the chair, though, as my lower back complained about some of hip thrusts. Still enjoying it, though, I think this is the first workout series where I'm actually looking forward to the session!

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
