Did an Iron upper body session with my new dumbbells. I use heavier dumbbells in the gym for same/similar exercises but the difference is the time. In the gym a set is usually around 30 seconds, CG's are one minute which is why I can start to feel the burn.

Had to skip the renegade rows as my back is not up to that (yet).

Enjoyed the session.

Pam runs I am very aware of my glutes & quads particularly. I should have done an interval session this morning but I was still awake at 1am watching the backyard ultra, and awake at various points through the night checking on progress (finally finished at 4am) and thinking that my legs would be ouchy and I had an early meeting I decided to do it tomorrow... only to find the meeting is tomorrow - by which time the DOMS will be here ARGH - I'll run it off tonight hopefully.

Well done with your session and heavier dumbbells Shades, the strength will soon increase with this programme.

Well done everyone, aren't we great! ROAR!

geordiegirl yeah I thought that one. Double well done you! Can't believe I'm saying this but I quite fancy that workout - squats and lunges, with variety - ok. The killer third of each exercise seems to be bodyweight which I assume is a relief? Still tough with only those 15 second rests... but I am tempted to have a go with lightish weights - say 2 x 6kgs? - What did you use?

I decided against Iron II Day 8 today, will do tomorrow. Have ballet tonight and yesterday was so full on with Caroline in the afternoon then the three hours of class later. I feel ok but BEING AN ANCIENT DODDERER must pace myself.

PS I only think 2 x 6kgs are light for lower body. No way could I shoulder press that!

Elsie Too it is so cool you are sticking with it ... and dare I say enjoying? Well almost. Have huge admiration for anyone fighting wretched Long Covid.

Yes I’m enjoying it.

Last 2 days my quads have been shouting at me!
Planning on doing day 7 tomorrow and looking forward to it.

Sharkie I used 4kg as wasn't sure what to expect (I hadn't had time to whizz through the video, on Iron I would read the description) and I had a few issues with my left knee last week which I didnt want to aggravate. I had thought I would increase weight for the earlier sets but it was too much of a faff I definitely could have gone heavier.

Yes, I remember you mentioning your knee issue, geordiegirl. Far better to err on the lighter side as there are so many reps of almost the same exercise.

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
