I'm doing resistance machines at the gym when I go, so not doing 5 Carolines a week (more like one or two). Enjoying them when I do them, and they're adding into a broader programme.

Look what I got!

I'm going lighter this week so might not need them. But next week I will.

Good price from Core Balance Fitness, but crikey once you go beyond 5kgs the price does mount up (obvs). Am glad I bought the rack of DBs - 3s, 4s, 6s, 8s and 10s when I did- for Raffo and myself at the seaside house, hence not having heavier weights here in London until recently.

I need to repeat Day 12, chest and triceps (one of my least favourites) before my dance class at 8.15. Must keep to my avowed intention to go lighter. It was hard last time and I kept reducing the weights used on subsequent sets and although I know I'm stronger eight weeks later there I'll use the same for most exercises I think. That should work!

*peeps around corner*

I'm looking for something for when I finish my second time around of Girls Gone Strong (another 5 weeks so not soon).

Had a quick look at CG's various programmes but I defo don't want HIIT so am thinking either Iron or Beginner Epic and skip the HIIT one. Anyone any thoughts? I'm a bit scared of Iron.

Don't be scared of Iron, Linds. You can adapt. The 30 min format will suit you. I am sure you would be fine. You can do the reps at your own pace within the one minute each set typically is. The format also means you are less likely to 'cheat' - well it does for me.

As she says - even if you take a few extra seconds getting ready for each set you are still going to go for 50 seconds or more... which is useful for gains in strength and endurance. I think you'd appreciate the variety too.

Also she doesn't shout stoopid stuff.

I would definitely appreciate the variety. I am heartily sick of Pallof presses. Do I have to warm up as well as do the 30 mins?

She advises it, but you don't HAVE to. Because her own warm up is so short and sweet I often do it, or most of it. And you can follow her few minutes stretch at the end - but even with both stuck in it's not going to take 40 mins.

And you really DO only need dumbbells.

Have just repeated Day 12, as I said I would.

I'm quite likely to do the whole programme a third time. If I can stick to it then there's another three weeks after this one. Will probably have a week off and I need to see when my dance intensives are but that's my current thinking.

About This Thread

Maintained by Sharkie
Caroline Girvan - tiny but tough, sweet but strong.

Here's a thread rather in the manner of the Shred craze that swept Fetchland some years ago, or perhaps more recently (and less bossily) Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga each year. I found Caroline Girvan via geordiegirl (ta, GG!) and am well impressed with her workouts. I'm currently on Day 27 of her 30 day Iron Series and have STUCK TO IT. Wonders will never cease, I was beginning to despair of the likelihood of me getting any sort...
