Open Water Swimming

I don't know what will be provided for the 5.5km swim we're doing in August but I'm guessing it's the same as for running in that I need to use the same thing in training. I've never swum for long enough to need fuel or water.
fetcheveryone May 2023 4:24pm, 19 May 2023 28,997 posts	0 fetcheveryone I’ve been wondering about that too. I did two hours on Sunday, and was fairly hungry when I got out - so I wonder if there’s a point somewhere before 3.5 hours where I will run out of steam.
fraggle May 2023 5:11pm, 19 May 2023 3,636 posts	0 fraggle Linds, there are two feed stations en route (when you get out at the lock,s) which have sweets, tortilla chips and energy drink to choose from. I’ve got one of the donut type tow floats which has a compartment in the top that’s easy access, so I put tried and tested energy gels in there.

Half an hour of chatting about art (turns out my companion is an artist), life with teenage boys (our kids are adults now but roughly the same age) and the difference between a woman in her late 60s now and in our mothers' time while pootling up and down the bay

If you'd have said 12 months ago I'd be swimming at 6 am in January under shooting stars in sub zero temperatures I'd have laughed!
