5k swim challenge - any takers?

I don't think I ended up swimming a 5km at all this year. I swam longer and shorter but I cried out of the Swimathon because I'd signed up to the triple 5km and they messed me about so much changing dates and times that I just gave up. I promise I will try harder next year!

EP - I tried to do a 10km in a pool once about 5-6 years ago. Even in a 50m pool all the turning made me dizzy, that and the water being too warm meant I had to get out to throw up after 8. I think 5km is my limit as a pool swim.

Good point Luiz!

I think I missed the 5K too and given 50 mins max in pool still it won't happen now

I really enjoyed building up for the Fetch 5k swim last year. It helped my swim focus a lot having a virtual event on my race calendar.

Any takers for a 6k swim ‘event’ this summer?

I have a 5k pool swim in the calendar for May (which I am undertrained for and which seems to be coming around very quickly :-O ), it would be nice to have something of a similar length for the open water in the summer though so I'd be up for that.

Gosh, I don't think I'd have the motivation to get beyond 5k but I might do that again.

Could we have an event of variable 5-6k length? I have an idea for 2023 too…..

You don't have to do it open water and you don't have to do it by any particular date.

It's a challenge, not a race.
