I've got a fitness age of 50 and it tells me that's as good as I can hope for. It's better than the NHS doodah that gives me a heart age of 56 and tells me that I should improve my diet despite the questionnaire containing precisely nothing about diet.

I have a fitness age of 53, which it tells me is as low as I can go - it’s lying as I know it lowers my fitness age as my weight goes down.

NHS says my heart agenis the same as my actual age and that I should go on a diet.

I checked my fitness age, 33, 8 years off my actual age. Apparently, it's been like this since I turned 41. Before that, it was 32. So that seems Garmin's standard for me -8; it never budged.

Out of interest, I checked out what that NHS test was and I got 40, so 1 year younger than I am. What I find weird is that they a) don't ask about diet and b) don't ask about exercise habits or RHR. The heart of a 40 yo runner is definitely stronger than that of a sedentary 40 yo and I guess the differences increase as you age.

My HRV has increased overnight, still balanced, my sleep score is good at 87, my resting HR has dropped another beat, everything looks good. Why then do I feel so bloody rotten.

I don't think that they take much more than 10 years off now.

That's a shame. It was a good bragging stat to quote at friends medal

My average RHR has been a steady 36bpm for many years. On the odd occasion it can dip to 31-32bpm overnight which could be an error, but may also be linked to the odd IPA or 3.

Fitness age 46
44.5 achievable
Actually almost 50 so that's ok
I do have a lot of weight to loose and I have Garmin scales... I wonder if my lower age will drop with weight lose?

This is the new Garmin standard at least around that age. Mine also ticked up from 30 to 31 on my 39th birthday.

On the previous standard it scored me at age 20.

Rosehip there's somewhere where it tells you requirements for the best score, one was BMI at or below 22.5 so mine doesn't change past that. Surprised yours does if on new standard.

Great job, SPR, you're also on minimum age, it seems.
Yes, I remembered those days when Garmin was perennially on 20. I think that was only based on VO2max. The newer calculation takes other factors into account, like the BMI you mentioned.
I think I tick all the boxes for the lowest possible fitness age, low BMI, low RHR and top 1% VO2max for my age and gender.

About This Thread

Maintained by EvilPixie
According to my Garmin this morning my body battery was at just 41 and I was "strained"
I have been strained for most days in the last 2 weeks
My body battery has also been low

So today it suggested a threshold run of up to an hour!

What's your Garmin say?
