Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Perfect Organism My fourth Hastings half marathon and one I was approaching in an unusual fashion. I had been out doing some runs prior to it, some long, some fast, but I wouldn't ever say that I had got into the true training zone. Also, I had quite a stressful Saturday trying to get various bits and bobs sorted out for our wedding. So I decided to have a few beers and a whisky in the evening, whereas I normally wouldn't before the race. So the night before I was thinking that I'd just run it for fun, but as I lined up I felt mentally in the mood to have a crack at it and so I gave it a go. And so for the first three miles I was actually in PB zone, but the came the hill which goes on for 3 miles, and almost immediately my spirit and legs were sapped. As I came to the brow and the descent began I just couldn't get back into the sub 7 min/miles and the chance for a PB passed me by. That is a valuable lesson I have learned this year; that a PB doesn't come without the hard work required of it! But as ever, I enjoyed this race. It is INCREDIBLY well supported for a fairly small event, and I always forget just how tough the course is. Hopefully I can remember that for next year!
