Thank you Monty - good to hear a perspective previously missed.

And you'll be more than welcome at our parkrun - even if you do need to walk some of it :)

-Monty-
Thanks everyone.

I do know of 2 other transwomen who have seen their performance drop rapidly too so I’m not the only one. There’s probably more out there in the world somewhere too.

Jovi - I agree. I don’t think that it’s very nice either and I’m surprised that it was allowed to happen. But then that’s rugby and I’ve never liked or understood it.

I could not have picked out which of those formidable lasses on the rugby field was a transwoman from that photo.

I'm a 5'4" ex-rugby player, rugby is the type of game that attracts all shapes and sizes. Mismatches of size, especially in the women's game are pretty common. The best tackler I ever came across was a 5'8" size 8 flanker who regularly 'folded people like deckchairs'. Technique is key and the biggest players were not necessarily the best tacklers.

I do think the interesting aspect of that article was the acceptance that the player had a longer history of rugby practice/play probably from a younger age than a lot of other players. As the women's game gets more popular, that advantage will lessen...

Thank you -Monty-. Can I just add that you would be very welcome at Coldhams Common parkrun - we have a pacing week every second Saturday of the month and one of our pacing bibs is run/walk.

Thanks Monty (and everyone else who has posted with understanding, kindness and compassion). There is hope.

Coincidentally, deck chairs are on sale in Habitat this weekend. Almost half price.
