Thank you Wezza that's very kind of you. The mile really is a tough distance to judge pace for when you don't run them frequently. I shall have to try more frequently than I have been doing.

Me too Fenland Flier. I might start trying a few a month - maybe not always full on - and see what happens.

Thanks. Yes. Definitely! Especially when it gets me out of relegation trouble from division 19 of Utmost 😀

6.45 this morning which is a small improvement on last week's attempt. Still not happy but pleased with the better time.

Well done FF.

I managed 7.14 tonight, club did a timed mile followed by intervals. A few seconds quicker than my best this year so I'm happy with that. :-)

Fizz :-)
I went out for a run this morning. After a very ploddy first mile, I decided to try some run walking, making a reasonable effort for at least a bit of speed in the runny bits. The last mile of the run is slightly downhill, so I’ve put the October mile in my portfolio. Pleased with 9:36 on my recent lack of training :-)

Did my mile yesterday afternoon. As I was running my warm up I was thinking of all the reasons (excuses) why I wasn't going to do very well: raced on Sunday, scraped my foot Sunday afternoon, had been wearing new shoes all day which were a bit tight...

Mile effort completed 8:36. Looking through my race portfolio, that is the quickest this year by 2 seconds :-)

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
