Sounds like a great run in difficult circumstances @westmoors. If you had a better surface and daylight I'm sure you'd have yourself a new virtual PB.

First attempt for December this morning, 8:22, which is my fastest this year by 2 seconds. I still want a bit more off that time so there will be more attempts before the month is out.

Hi, I quite like the sound of running a mile as a time trial and have added January 25 to my portfolio. I've never run a mile for time before and have no idea how to pace it or what kind of warm up to do (I'll definitely need one of those!) Any advice gratefully received 😊

Welcome aboard @Sarbear.
I've generally done a mile or two before attempting the fast mile. Sometimes I stop my watch and restart it for the mile but mostly I just take it from the benchmark times at the bottom of the training entry I've done.
How are you enjoying the experience of Fetcheveryone?

Thanks @Fenland Flier I'm really enjoying the site although there's a lot to explore! It's taking me a while to discover everything. Some of it is also really addictive 😬 It's definitely inspiring me to get back into running though. I ran a lot in my 20s then for various reasons stopped. I'm remembering what I loved about it!

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
