Yes. It was quite a decent run. The weather was against it so not a bad effort. Consistent at least. I mightbhave another go before the end of the month.

I had a bash this morning, fully anticipating an improvement but was actually 2 seconds slower than October - 8:26
There was a bit of a headwind but still disappointing - Bah!

I'd say that was good @Sweetie, it shows consistency despite feeling faster and especially with a head wind.

I attempted a mile yesterday as part of a run and managed 7.47, my legs and lungs weren't very helpful. My legs continued to complain the rest of the day.
Having only ran 10 miles in November and 20 miles in October I don't suppose I can complain.

I've updated the sidebar with the last 2 virtual mile races for 2025, all 12 are ready for your attempts to improve your pacing skills. I still haven't improved my pacing despite setting up the virtual miles for that purpose 🤦🤣🤣

I almost forgot about the virtual mile in November. My friend wanted to go for a run on Friday so I suggested running together to the track, have a go at it and run home. After 6:55 in October, I hoped for sub 6:50 which we managed in 6:48. Happy with that. Next time, I'll aim for sub 6:45.

Had my attempt last night. I knew I'd been running well recently so thought this should be a good one. However, my mile is on the trailway and I didn't know how much tree debris there would be after the weekend storm. Also it was dark and I was reliant on my chest torch to pick it up. I did run as hard as I felt safe. Pleased with my 8:22 which is my third fastest virtual mile and only 4 seconds slower than my quickest.

About This Thread

Maintained by Fenland Flier
For encouragement and general chat about the virtual mile challenges.

It's not easy pacing a mile race whether it's virtual or real, be it on track, road, grass or trail. Go out too hard initially and struggle towards the end, go out too soft and regret your finish time.

Use this thread to record your jubilation or allow us to commiserate with you.
