I've certainly tweaked it in some way. Possibly overdoing the beyond the head reach on a tricep pullover with a heavy weight that I couldn't control to the floor. My arms go that far but probably shouldn't!

Day 30 done (finally) the abs ouch! Managed with 6kg dumbbells throughout should have dropped for the biceps. On to epic when my next strength session appears. Hope elbow is ok Sharkie and def keep an eye on your hip ness although all the strength work does pay off too. |

geordiegirl well done for completing iron. I did 36/50 of epic heat today. I don't know which epic you are starting but I'm finding with heat you move a lot faster than iron.

I'm taking it carefully, GG, but feel that strengthening the muscles will help maintain the hip joint overall. Good luck with 'epic'. Will be interesting to hear what you think of it.

Exactly Ness strong muscles and tendons help the joints no end. I’m revving myself up for Epic! Debating whether to stick it in as a practice this week - official 1st session is next week. |

Day 3 done this morning. I had some mild front-of-armpit DOMS from day 2 which was only a problem trying to wrestle my wetsuit on at the lake yesterday morning! Enjoyed day 3 - I think it was Ness said a couple of pages back that it's shaking up her routine - I was in a bit of a strength work rut and not doing as much as I should and this is definitely getting me interested again. The glute work wasn't too bad but the single leg hip thrusts really showed that I'm weaker on the side with the back problem, so hopefully the targeted work will get them stronger. My inner quads just above the knee were also grumbling a bit so that's another spot to work on. Well done Sharkie on restarting (and with heavier weights? Nice sign of progress!) and good luck gg for Epic! |

And well done you too, CasB Any unilateral work is good and things like single leg bridge variations and single leg hip thrusts I reckon are particularly great for runners. As you write - it can become pretty clear just where a weakness is. Pleased-ish with myself as I did Day 2 today. That's straight after Day 1 yesterday. I don't want to overdo stuff, and am well aware in my 70s I DO need to mind getting enough recovery. But the plan is so well constructed following it works. Even using heavier weights - which I did. I don't have as many dance classes this week - and only two track sessions (one tonight and one on Sunday) so I 'might' try and do a 5 session week as she does. I've blogged the details, with my improvements and observations if anyone is interested. (Not that you should be!) And I think I have discovered the cause of my elbow worries. |

What do you think the elbow niggle is caused by, Sharkie?

Just saw your post on the other thread. Will go and have a proper read of that. Sorry should have checked there first.

Day 4 done with 2.5kg weights throughout. Wobbly legs going down stairs after it but not as bad as after day 1. |
