Firstly, another well done SPR :)

Unexpected return to thread. One of our work sites is in a park which hosts a parkrun. I'd agreed to work 9-11am today to cover absence, nice 3 mile run commute. Arrived 8.40 and absent guy was present so I wasn't needed.

Decided as I was there i'd run Parkrun and see how it went, although local it's one I've never run as i've 3 others closer to home.

1km in, the strongest (can now see he has parkrun pb of 15.xx) in our group of 5 called a split to another, clear he was pacing him so I checked target (17) and decided to stick with them, 2 quickly dropped leaving the three of us. Pacee faded at 3km so we slowed to try chivvy him along. Given it was a pacing effort we didn't race for the line and I was content to drop in 3rd.

17.19 in tatty & heavy speedcross 4's after hitting 100miles across 2 weeks ultra build was not a bad outcome at all & a fun change of plan.

Will ease back my time on feet next week to allow recovery from this.

Final thought, this run almost convinces me that if i'd seeded myself higher up at the Trafford 10k start i'd have found myself in a group that'd have maybe helped me get a quicker time. I ran alot of that race solo.

P.s. "100miles across 2 weeks" is total not per week!

Good work rhb, love those unplanned quicker ones. I had a last minute pass to do parkrun on Christmas Day, turned up mildly hungover, no warm up, no HRM and blasted round in 17:38 on a hilly course after a month of December jogging.

Marathon training at the minute so just a 19:38 parkrun (6:20 pace) today after a 15 mile 'warm up', low mileage week next week so may have a full beans parkrun to see where I am over 5k.

Season has ended with the 5000 from last week as I have a groin strain so will miss the relays. Hopefully a couple of weeks rest + easy sorts it.

Anyone else doing area relays or racing elsewhere?

LOL RHB - you know 50 a week is not a big number :¬) ?

Gobi - not sure what that contributes tbh? I never wrote that 50 was big, I'm well aware of the big mileage weeks many runners are putting in.

What it was though was big relative to my usual training, and not my normal approach up to a hard 5km effort.

That's the plan RHB, 7 weeks till first league race so a couple of weeks off now won't hurt and I was going to have a week off then week easy after the relays anyway.
