My plan is to go back to build stronger endurance base for a couple of months then back to two interval sessions a week for 4/6 weeks

One of the best runs whch I believe is a requirement to adopt in your programme is the 5 mile aerobic threshold run.
Last year, I just about scraped the sub 18 (17:46) and was runnng 4x 1000m at 3:10 pace and 8x 400m at 71 seconds.
These sessions I believe were ideal in order to gain a decent time in the 5k distance.

doing km reps at 3.10 pace I expect you to run sub 17 pretty quickly, when I was running 3.10km reps off 60 I was running low 16s for 5km.

currently running 5 on a slightly hilly course in 34ish 2 of my interval sessions are 16x400s and 6x1200s, doing 400s in about 80 at mo
