Was at Peterborough today running with MiniG but did 2kms in 7.20 and a solo km in 3.27.

Pace and control coming . Need to do a full 5km soon.

Top run Brunski!

Unfortunately I've been hit down with idiopathic pleuritic chest pain on one side. Completely knocked me out, running impossible and fearing there's no quick fix as little improvement after best part of a week. Very disappointing as ran a big positive split in a stacked Midland champs 5000 for 5th in 15:09 so was easily hoping to smash 15 minutes and now not quite so sure it will happen :(

Cheers Guys.

Sounds promising Gobi, on the way back!

PB - that sounds a nasty one (despite not knowing what it is) - is it something viral, pleurxx makes me think of the lungs (not great for us runners) so hope you can shift it and get back running soon!

Trying to get back on track to see if I can aim for sub 18 towards the end of August. Had an achilles flare up (now gone), a week off which seems to have caused an evaporation of aerobic ability, and now an intervals session which has caused some quad soreness!

Think I'll stick to focussing on marathons in future!

(Despite that, the intervals were OK, managed to avoid the tedium of watching football tonight and arrived back just in time to bring a winning goal home with me, so alls good, apart from the achey quad!)

nothing like coming back nice and easy after a week off nursing injury Larks....

4 days: tempo - easy run - 20 miler - 200s session.

I'd have more than an achey quad!! Look after yourself, the fitness will be back in time for August (and October) there is no need to rush it at our age!!

Achilles injury has gone away, and (though it doesn't look like it!) I am feeling like I am being cautious. Quad ache is non-existent today, in fact all of the legs feel good!

Mileage over the last few weeks has been:-
61
42
54
54 (incl 33 mile race)
18
10
23
3
32
42 (estimated for this week)

So I really only had 4 weeks of lower volume, and the 32 last week were (mainly) easy running with just 3 x 8 minutes as the tempo last week. The 20 miler I'll agree was probably a step too far and definitely not smart in hindsight, but I really anticipated that being quite an easy effort.

Of course, when something goes "ping" in the next 5 days I'll come back here and eat humble pie, but as of today I feel in a better place than I did a couple of weeks ago.
