Jerome Vareille, who spent four seasons in the Scottish Premier League with Kilmarnock, has a PB 0f 20:26, set at Falkirk aged 43. His daughter looks quite a promising athlete.

However, he is eclipsed by Andrew Hume who was semi-pro as a striker with Stenhousemuir and set a PB of 17:46 at Falkirk aged around 41. (First finisher by one second over an SV - in fact that week three of the first six were SVs with WAVAs over 83%).

Linking the two, Jerome Vareille set a Scottish scoring record for fastest quadruple, banging in four past Stenhousemuir in only fourteen minutes. He also became the longest serving foreigner playing in Scotland (at that time) when Henrik Larsson left Celtic.

Good find, I have posted my evidence that walking is a bit better than watching TV here fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=60442
I might see if I can get a research grant for more trivially spotting the very obvious.

Danny Mills ( ex Leeds and England ) ran at Harrogate when we visited a few years ago - about 20 mins - not bad for an oldie but his son is a lot quicker.

Ran 16.16 at 37
Ran 16.45 at 43
Have run 17.25 this year at 47 and was looking to go close to 17 until my bike crash but even current form I have run 18.12

Andrew65- Cmon England!
Gobi, are longer runs a part of football training? I have often wondered if endurance training is included in their training schedule.

It's probably fair to say you were a better runner than footballer then, Gobi?

Princesszee, I looked up the new route on the Livi FB - seems like a decent improvement. Last run I did at Livi was I think the longest I had ever taken to cross the start line - aside from my previous parkrun there.

Re the Q for Gobi, in Scotland its tradition that pre season training includes taking the players to run up and down the sand dunes. Wonder if that should be part of a runners training !
