Thanks to you both. A shame, for some reason I was thinking of the Meadows which would have been much handier but I now have enough internet to see it doesn't exist! Will be packing up to leave on Saturday so not sure we'll be up for such a relatively long detour.

That's quite a good illustration of how far from a parkrun you can be whilst being in Edinburgh. I mapped routes to the parkruns, they are both about ten miles round the bypass, which I'd expect to take around twenty minutes drive that time on a Saturday (unless the bypass has ground to a halt as it sometimes does). Routes through the city are a good bit shorter, but I'd expect them to take longer.
If you were planning to go in the way home, Livingston (along the M8) would be another option. Half tarmac, half light trail, quite attractive, congested start unless you fancy hurdling (some do!)

Yeah I think unfortunately we'll end up giving it a miss. Got a local 10k race on Sunday which we will probably do instead.

Its a shame I have this injury jda as we could have met up for a parkrun blast - or more for me to trail in behind you !. However as you have seen we don't really have any central Edinburgh options. There is a junior parkrun at the meadows on a Sunday though !
Meadows is a popular place to run, but Blackford hill has some decent routes as well that you could try out - A run through the Hermitage is lovely and somewhere I haven't been for a number of years

Dv-they've changed the Livi route so no hurdling any more just a couple of wee inclines added in. Haven't run it but walked it last week to check it out.

A Hibs player did 43 mins in a 10k a few years ago, the day after a game (in which they came off the bench). I beat him.
