Regarding “quicker when wet”, I think that for most, my local wet weather course is quicker than the summer course. The summer course involves 2 laps of a tarmac track, plus a field with a slope, whereas the winter course is basically 3 laps of the track, and a short out and back section on a path. The winter course is certainly my quicker course. When the stars align, it’s perfect for me when it’s been raining heavily recently so the field is flooded meaning it’s the winter course, but on parkrun day it happens to be perfect conditions :)

I read “quicker when wet” as referring to the time taken for the tail walker to finish and the event to start closing down. We find some slower walkers tend to get put off in the rain and hence the Tailwalker is through faster, whereas many of the runners turn out regardless! Obviously there are exceptions… and just an observation.

Sorry, didn’t mean to mislead. We tend to find in very wet or very cold weather that we have fewer participants overall and it tends to be the slower finishers who don’t come

The Mussile, yes, that’s it. It’s about 1.5 miles from me and is hence the one I’ve done by far the most times (123 times).

In other news, there’s a chap organising a 55 seater coach to get out to the parkrun closest to Chicago, on the marathon weekend in a few weeks. Looking forward to doing that - I’m currently on 49 locations so there’s a chance it may end up being my 50th location, if I don’t squeeze a new one in beforehand.

I am planning Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve. They very conveniently set it up near our holiday home :-)
