Someone mentioned a while back that their parkrun wasn't going to be on because lightening was predicted. Is that a general thing for parkrun? It doesn't seem unreasonable but I wondered if this was an RD choice or a parkrun rule.

It's been on our risk assessment since day 1. However, if that's because of our lake, I don't know. I didn't identify it as a risk, I was told by our Ambassador at the time that we had to have it.

Not very readable, but I think the point is clear. Other weathers to be wary of are wind, snow and "extreme" |

Interesting as our parkrun is round a lake, but I've run it during a thunderstorm.

Market Rasen racecourse has the same weather-related risks as us, and there's no lake there, but that's a wide open space. Normanby Hall, which is nicely shetered woodland, also has the same risks, which implies that it's pretty much a national requirement. |

lightning and storms/high winds re on our RA. I wouldn't cancel ahead of the day but if, when arriving at 8am it looked dodgy then I'd cancel then. We have cancelled for high winds once and that was on instruction of the park.

Quick search of several risk assessments selected entirely at random indicates that lightning is a global one - probably as a consequence of it being on a template that everybody is expected to copy. I was mildly amused to see reference to kangaroos on one of the Australian ones I picked.
