Thanks, @alehouse I don't think I kept anything back on the day. Which is both good and bad.

@Velociraptor haven't seen your results but glad you enjoyed the event. Many positives but the shirt is identical to last year and I saw huge queues for baggage. Hope all went OK for you. Great news NZD welcome to the clerb... Glad you 5k preps are going well @Canute |

Thanks, @OO61 Baggage wasn't an issue for me as I had the privilege of two personal sherpas, and I now have four almost identical Chester shirts which clash horribly with every item of running legwear I've ever owned.

Very exciting @NZD and proof you are never too old ! How is the recovery @OO61 ? How do you plan on spending the rest of your running year? Great to see you both making headways with your returns to fitness @alehouse and @Canute Hope you were able to do your PT session @Welshpoppy Are your Sherpas available for hire @Velociraptor π As for me, HR still high although I don't feel ill π, a virus I am hoping will die quickly. Five easy miles yesterday felt like hard work. |

@Velociraptor personal sherpas sounds ideal. I'm good @Solo Solo, I'll do a couple of local races this year and parkruns, but no more big races. So glad you don't have a virus and hope it fades quickly. |

My personal sherpas let me down badly at one marathon . They turned up at our pre arranged meeting point at the race HQ over half an hour late and only 5 minutes before the race started. On a very frosty morning I couldn't leave the meeting point because I didn't know where they were or when or if they would arrive, so I had to stand there waiting to hand over my race bottles and gear. After they had arrived and I'd given them all my stuff, I had only a couple of minutes to dash to the start. Made it, but I was so cold, it wasn't the best preparation. However, during the race, they worked well, getting to the drink points on time and giving me the correct bottles. |

Hmm, don't think my lot are into playing sherpa for me π. Either snuck up in bed or otherwise doing their own (much more important!) things. Hope that HR settles soon @Solo. Must be frustrating having a mere mortal VO2max π (apologies for another of those lame jokes!). Great to see continuing good progress @alehouse and @Canute @Welshpoppy hope your Achilles and calf behaved. @Torque Steer? Hope everything is OK? Did you manage to don the running shoes last Sunday. First outing as a 'Ninja member this morning (no club kit as yet @alehouse! $$). Usual estuary circuit, 51 min / 8.4 km. Included two longer efforts (890m & 1.14km at ~5:00) but felt washed out/flat, with even the slow last 3.4 km a bit of a struggle π. Not a good omen for my 10km race in ten days ... |

apologies - been missing on family and business matters just when all the excitement has been going on @OO61 super marathon result and I did like your splits - very well marshalled reserves to finish like that. @Velociraptor hadn't realised you were also running the same marathon - and well done too. Personal sherpas sound very good indeed as long as you avoid @Flatlander 's issues! Never had that sort of service @Canute really good progress made and so pleased the knee is holding up - gives one hope. @alehouse progress as well - all good! have you been cricket watching or has the chalk face interrupted? @NZD your new club sounds like a rogue Hash Harriers without the pub meet ups! Hope the spark returns swiftly. @Solo you can't lose that much VO2 max in such a short time - it took 9 months for mine to decline that much with only very light training to support it. HR probably better monitors what's happening and I do know something about that from recent experience!! A RHR of 122, instead of a normal 52 is not to be recommended @Welshpoppy sorry to hear you will miss/missed the Cardiff HM you were targeting - you have built up for a number of races only to have something crop up at the last minute to knock you out. Me - I found my running shoes cunningly hidden in the shoe cupboard- to paraphrase Mrs TS's favourite chick film "no one puts running shoes in the cupboard" - and I have used them to do some walk/run intervals currently at 2min walk/1 min run for 30 min or so. Run pace is actually quite good but HR up to 152 so it indicates where my fitness is. Knee is okay on such short intervals of running so far..... |
