Glad you managed an unhindered run @Welshpoppy A beautiful cold bright morning here too. My favourite kind of weather π Good luck in your 10k @EarlyRiser Enjoy! I wonder if a sherpa would have stopped me being late for my race π€ Building nicely @alehouse @Torque Steer I think the Garmin V02 max is a good indicator of how you are relatively 'running on the day' but no I wouldn't like to think my fitness had disappeared as quickly as that !! A scary RHR ! out of curiosity what is your max ? Sadly I still have a high RHR but otherwise feel fine. Still two days to go π€ |

Good news, @Welshpoppy I hope you get a run of Good Achilles Days. A successful new kit item is always a bonus. A sausage roll mid-race would be odd, @OO61. A sausage roll at mile 22 of a marathon in which the wheels started to detach early on and fell right off at 16 miles would have slipped down better than anything apart from a warm macaroni pie. It was also around 3.30pm, I hadn't had any lunch, and at the speed I was going I had another hour on my feet ahead of me. |

@Velociraptor - but was the sausage roll to be with red or brown sauce:-) Time on feet is very important in terms of refuelling - you will probably consume more energy than those a the front running 2:05 pace! @Welshpoppy good news on the achilles front - and the hat. @EarlyRiser sounds like the training and the stars are aligning if it is going to rain as well. Good luck for Sunday. @alehouse - they are nice chunks of running @Solo - a sherpa (reliable type) may have stopped the jokes VO2 max is a culmination measurement of training effort. The more one does, and the more varied the training is, the better the number. I had an elevated RHR for three weeks as the infection gradually subsided steadying off at around 56 for last week and now dropping back to near normal at 44. When I came back in this morning Garmin told me it had recalculated my MRH to 176 which is back to where it was some years ago. This recalculation is probably due to the relatively short distances I am currently plodding, coupled with my lack of fitness, so it is easier to push up the HR with a bit of effort. The first frost of the winter had come stealing in over my unkempt lawns overnight and crisped up all the fallen leaves underfoot. Did another session of 2min walk/1min run for 32min again producing some symmetry in pace and HR Wordle in six after getting the last four letters in place in two!! |

@NZD good to hear about your session with the Ninja club; maybe the altered routines of the past week or so has left you a bit flat, but I suspect your liveliness will return in time for your 10K. @Torque Steer and @alehouse good progress with your run/walk sessions. @EarlyRiser you have prepared well. Good luck on the day. @Welshpoppy great to hear that the Achilles is behaving itself. @Solo good to hear that you are feeling fine. I hope the RHR settles quickly. I have now completed 8 weeks of the modified C25K programme. I have been adhering strictly to the maximum duration of the jog epochs but have done approximately 50% extra total volume by adding a few extra jog epochs. In this morningβs session I did 16 min and 28 min epochs. The recommendation is a single 28 min jog. My knee feels fine. |

Yes, the football was grim if you are an England fan! I note a decent parkrun from a male in the Southern Hemisphere! Hope it was warmer than here; struggled to scrape the ice off the car yesterday. Further progress today, subject to seeing if the tendon survived: 2, 12, 6 minutes off short walk breaks. I might make the 16 minutes soon, but some way short of 28. |

Not far short of a parkrun @alehouse loving you c2 5k canute π You are the king of stats TS. I could easily fancy a sausage roll during a marathon @Velociraptor just not sure how long it would stay down π€’ Easy parkrun today after heavy session yesterday. Legs are coming back nicely. |

@Solo all the best for tomorrow. @Torque Steer good to see you back on track. Very respectable pace for your run segments. Yes I imagine similar to your Hash Harriers, though hopefully not in the "Drinking Club With A Running Problem" category π (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers). Further great improvements from you both @[84] & @Canute. @Welshpoppy (& other northerners). Ouch, -1C already. Guess we are fortunate here in Auckland in that regard. Typical overnight low at the equivalent time (Apr) here would still be in the 11C - 15C range. Though of course a lot lower in more southerly parts of NZ, and more inland areas @OO61 impressive that you are already back into parkruns and hard training session. I recall doing Mile End parkrun 6 days after an HM back in Jan and my legs did not like it at all. Yes @[84], I guess an OK parkrun result in the circumstances, especially given how sluggish I felt on Thur. Almost half a minute down on last Sat though π. Not looking so good for my 10k next Sun (20th). One bit did puzzle me. Felt a struggle but ave HR was 5 down on my usual ~154 bpm under 'race' conditions. And b/km (746) was the same as last Sat. Anyway, probably best I didn't push to the limit 8 days out from my 10k race. Did pick up a Night Ninjas running top yesterday but will probably hold off until the upcoming race before giving it an outing. |
