@Solo -great run, excellent result & an dEngland vest to boot!!

Your enforced taper may have done you some good :-)

@EarlyRiser fine run and finer prediction :-) Well done

@Canute excellent progress. Just watch that knee, they have a habit of biting back unexpectedly!

@NZD very decent parkrun - perfect preparation for a 10K- and an outing for the first time in your new club vest.

Thanks - I think fast twitch muscles wither more slowly than aerobic fitness :-)

Yesterday was tackling the aforesaid unkempt lawns - nearly 4 weeks since th elast cut, and as it rained/sleeted/ sun shone intermittently it became a two cut job so that the wet grass could get picked up.
A bit of NZD's stump clearance as well using my very heavy duty pickaxe to good effect.
Evening exercises were sharply curtailed when my knee simply refused to cooperate!

Anyway went out this morning and reversed the walk/run to 1min walk/2min run and very sensibly cut down the pace eventually doing 2.58 miles in 32 min with HR132/152 (astonishingly high but reflecting my lack of aerobic fitness).

Knee didn't mind the run bits but as soon as I stopped it decided to tell me off.

However a bit more stump work has worried it :-)

Consultant appointment early tomorrow so I will have something to discuss.

Wordle in three yesterday and today - I had my six, like alehouse, on Friday!!

@Solo you timed your pacing extremely well as your last 3.1 miles were 7:25m/m pace so no falling off at all really compared to the first 10 miles.

I managed a good hour's running today and Achilles was 1 on the pain chart. After a poor 14 miles last week it can only get better this week ;-)

I suppose not @Torque Steer although it felt hard work but somehow I managed to keep momentum. My first mile was also my slowest while I dipped my feet in the water to see how I felt so I suppose it balanced itself out.
Sounds like you have been challenging your knee and it has said enough is enough!

Thank you all for the well dones
I think that sounds a great idea @Welshpoppy entering Swansea too πŸ™‚Fingers crossed you are able to get a few more runs this week 🀞

@Solo superb effort & result despite a trying week. Very well done on the England vest. Well deserved.

@EarlyRiser good result from you too. Impressive given you basically started from scratch just 3 weeks ago.
@Canute you really have done well in terms of both results and sticking to plan.
Good progress with your hamstring @alehouse . Starting to look very positive for healing fully.

Sounds great news @Welshpoppy. Will still need careful management of your achilles but hopefully all up from now on.
@Torque Steer nice swap in run/walk ratio. Take care with that stump work though. I can talk from experience! Hope the consultant has good news.

Botched attempt to trace out route of next Sunday's 10k race yesterday! Missed a turn onto a narrow path and got 'lost' on unfamiliar back streets. Total 10.2 km but spent 8 mins (watch not on pause!) discussing with a local how to get back onto the estuary track. Included three half hearted 450m - 600m efforts (pre-nav failure!). Body still reeling from 5 hours gardening Sat pm. Not heavy stuff but stooping over much of the time. Took about 3 hrs in the evening to stand fully straight.

Slow-moderate progressive run this morning. Again 10.2 km (61 mins) but this time managed to navigate the 10k course correctly πŸ‘ (except I started from my usual start location which is about halfway around the race course). Elevation profile not pretty. Extra ~25m EG on top of normal estuary route, giving total of 75m πŸ™ (& the promoters have the cheek to label it as "mostly flat"! Not likely to get anywhere near 50 mins, even if had recovered fitness back to where it was a couple of months.

Tentatively another 8k in the morning with several faster efforts, then perhaps an easy 5k on Thur to flex legs. Given only 3 weeks prep can't afford a full week taper.
Body took 6-7k to loosen up this morning - clearly in need of a bit more work.
