@Welshpoppy - that was a good return to running and even better low level reaction in the achilles. Will the coffee and cake take place before or after the HM :-)? @NZD - that's a great vertical scale for accentuating hills! But it's only 20m in a Km - round here that's called flat How did it feel when you actually ran the proper course? Hope it's properly marked when you race it. Your build up looks fine - just be very easy on that last 5K - better too little than too much as it takes us oldies plonger to recover. My back felt like that after lawn cutting process - stump clearing was undertaken very cautiously, with your recent experiences in mind, but fortunately all the roots were still live and mostly soft and the pickaxe chopped through them with a satisfactory thump! Consultant was cautious - still pushing the idea of steroid injections which I am not too keen on. Seemed surprised that I knew about PRP treatments! Physio in attendance was tasked with providing additional exercises to increase strength and stability. Back in four weeks. Fitted in another 1min walk/2min run on my return lured out by beautiful, cold sunshine (frost on the car when I went out earlier) and did 2.51 miles in 30min with avhr139/max149. Strangely Garmin decided to increase my maxHR by one to 177 on the flimsy basis of the last two runs. However its recommended training run for today was 10min warm up/down and 40 min tempo at 9:40m/m pace so there is some question mark about its current predictive efficacy!! |

Thanks @NZD @OO61 It has been a long time since I have felt this good about a race result so thank you all for letting me enjoy it here with your kind comments. Knowing the course can only be beneficial @NZD I would say less is more this week and hopefully get to the start line feeling refreshed. I think I would prefer additional exercises to steroid injections too @Torque Steer Good news is I am none the worse for my outing yesterday. RHR has even lowered a couple of more beats so hopefully virus is on it's way out. Legs a little stiff so a short run later. |

@Solo good recovery. Really pleased you got that England vest. @Torque Steer good to see your recovery plan back on track. Yes, I too would be holding off the steroid injections for now. @Canute is your inspiration. How is the ear? Did the planned 8.3 km this morning with 4x ~500m efforts. Definitely not up to scratch. At a guess looking at perhaps sub-53 at best on Sunday (π), though if as windy as this morning, even sub-55 may be a challenge. Definitely looking forward to a more relaxed next few days! |

Is it a 10k NZD? Maybe garmin is showing appreciation for your gardening TS? Glad you are over the virus Solo. I think I'll swim today. My knee is sore after the marathon. |

Enjoy your easy days before your race @NZD When was the last time you raced a 10k? Whatever the result it will be good training in the bag π Hope @NZChris had a good race in Chicago |

20 minutes today: 3/5/8/4. Would have been 8/8/4 but my builder phoned, and I was quite happy for him to do so the way I was plodding and gasping for air. I would say my HR is about 15 higher than normal for the pace I was running. Did get easier in the second half. Must look up NZC in the Chicago results! Legs, @Solo ? I would be taking an easy week...or two! |

I think NZC will be reasonably pleased although I would imagine the second half was tough going. It isn't supposed to be easy! Looking good in the photos!

That's good news about NZC @alehouse. I hadn't seen a post from her for a while so was hoping nothing was amiss. I felt better after my short run yesterday than I did before but quads were more tender this morning so a complete rest day. All easy runs planned for this week dependant on how I feel. I then have a few races planned to make the most of my fitness. My last being the Norwich HM 27/11 which I entered when I thought my run at Peterborough had been scuppered. I will then go back to base building for a couple of months, a month of which will be with my daughter in Key West over Christmas/New Year βΊοΈ Thank you for encouraging to enter the EM qualification @alehouse It really has given me a new motivation! Have you stopped aqua jogging completely now? |
