Last 'hard' workout before HM, 8.4km including 4x800m and 1x1050m efforts at ~5 min/km pace. And no, not off 90 sec jogging intervals! Not up to it. A lot more random, depending on where the flattest bits of track were. I'm with @EarlyRiser for longer reps, in that regard. Legs still very jaded & cardio not a whole lot better 🙁. Not helped by a fairly stiff wind. Struggled to get HR up to 150 until the last two reps (vs LT normally 159). In last few weeks though, watch has been putting my LT down as low 150. Hope this is just an anomaly and not age degeneration!!! |

Easy on the training for HM @NZD! Ah ha. You don't trust the tech 'cos it doesn't give you the numbers you want?! Seriously, I really appreciate the discussions on here re. training. All of you have been in this game for a very long time, not like my on and off history, and I am full of respect for that. Training still going well, bumped up the long run to 14k and found I can tack on a second easy pace run the day after with little impact on overall stress/tiredeness. Also I can run with my better half which has to be good. That will boost weekly mileage up to 30km or so. And entered my next race! Long time ahead, end of April. 11k Trail race up in the hills. Should be fun/exhausting. 1000 feet of climb, so my weekly hilly session should help out. |

apologies for absence - 10" of snow on Saturday/Sunday, which has now frozen solid, did more than interrupt running - it caused a major broadband outage by Openreach affecting most broadband suppliers across town and it is only getting rectified slowly. Back on line now so hopefully it is sorted......... Will be back later but have to pop out to hospital for tests........ |

Good to see you, @Torque Steer . Hope test results are what you hope for! "Proper" training also interrupted here: weather and work have conspired to have a series of short run days. A mile yesterday in sleet on the way to stretch and strengthen; another mile today in reasonable conditions above ground (zero degrees) but too many icy patches for me to do what I had planned. Very thick ice on the car this morning; at least I have a car: yesterday had a bad slide on black ice on a sharp downhill, missing another car by what seemed less than a centimetre. Tomorrow I will perhaps park a mile away from work and run the last tricky mile where the incident happened. Wordle in four, with five yesterday. |
