200 and 300 meters ate my favorites, I keep up top speed without imploding....
0061 can't be changed so I'm stuck with it.

@Canute seems rather precarious ...! Similarly for your -4C low angle sun exploit @Torque Steer. Ice patches? To be fair, those are conditions I don't have to contend with, not even close. But surely not worth risking all that work you have put into recovery.
Very wise @Welshpoppy. Skip the ice.
Interesting discussion on reps/intervals @Torque Steer and @alehouse. Agree, something approaching 4 x 4 minutes off 90 seconds would take me many weeks to build up to, even from my current starting point. Assuming I could even achieve it! But clearly I need to start pushing harder on the rep/interval side of things.

A bit late now for the HM in two weeks! But I do have another HM coming up in early April. Local this time. Hopefully better training without the Nov Japan trip, 5000m track race, Christmas & New Year, and flying over 0.6x around the world to contend with in the 9 weeks leading up to the race (plus work prep for the trips). For the upcoming one, I didn't even bother working to a formal training plan. Too many confounding issues. Not that the lead up to the next one will be plain sailing though with work, home and family commitments, and MIL health fluctuating (currently in hospital).

No parkrun today 🙁. Broken nights sleep. Torrential rain at 3am and 5am so turned alarm off and didn't wake until ~20 mins before start of parkrun at 8am. Of course by then it was brilliant sunshine but too late! Unfortunate as that was to be my last hard run before the HM. Did feel better for the extra hours sleep though. Decided to skip training run for the day to give legs a decent rest.

All quiet on the western front!

Last long before race. Total 21.3 km (18.9k @ 6:21 + 2.4k @ 5:40). HR 120/139. Upper legs still leaden, especially over first 10k or so. Need to focus on shorter runs now with faster reps to push HR closer to LT (159). All too little, too late though. Unless legs improve considerably in the next two weeks, will be a struggle to get close to even two hours ☚ī¸.

Oh, I see I didn't answer @alehouse's question from several days ago. HM is in two weeks (Sunday, 19 January).

Think that you did answer, @NZD ! Re training, I would just take it very easy from ten days to go. Nothing to be gained from faster running except for heavy legs!

Thick snow this morning and no time to run in it as I had to pick up a guy who is decorating for me, then out for brunch with my twins who celebrate their birthday tomorrow. So by the time I got to run it was freezing slush and icy water so kept the run short, which is fine!

I ran today first time since NYD an hour in the mist and rain but it felt great to be back.

You guys are having a patch of rough weather.

Thanks @alehouse. Makes sense. Last thing I need is legs heavier than they are now.

Slower recovery run this morning. 8.4k @ 6:33, HR 113/127.

Very quiet oop north! Hope all is well @Torque Steer.
I see @alehouse and @Welshpoppy got out for decent runs this morning so I assume conditions not too bad?

Only a short local run this morning. Had to be back before g'kids arrived at 8am.

Got something to say?
